Mechanical Project Leader Jobs

Design experience in multiple industries which may include: commercial, industrial, educational, multi-unit residential, healthcare, government, etc.

Design experience with numerous central plant systems including hot water, steam, and chilled water systems

Extensive code knowledge including but not limited to: OBC, ASHRAE standards, CSA standards, ASPE standards

Strong desire to work within a team and develop the skills of the team

Review and stamp mechanical projects of all complexities and sizes

Direct design strategies/concepts on complex projects

5+ years of Project Management experience within the mechanical construction industry.

Skills, Abilities and Other Requirements

Manage the development of design-build solutions to solve specific customer challenges or operational requirements.

Collaborate with the Director of Operations for planning, strategy and management of projects.

College Diploma or Certificate in Construction Technology/Construction Project Management.

Manage field labour capacity through the master schedule to ensure no excess of overhead.

- Demonstrate superior management skills including planning, organizing and leading

- Experience in providing management and technical guidance for estimators and project coordinators

- Excellent scheduling capability and time management skills

-Superior knowledge of mechanical installations specifically boilers and chillers OR HVACR Units.

- Superior organizational skills, including analysis, accuracy and attention to detail

- Excellent communication and relationship building skills

Experience with mechanical systems such as but not limited to:

Manage external contractors and audit all studies and recommendations

Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized college or university required

Licensed professional engineer in the Province of Ontario, or ability to obtain one

Minimum of 5-years in manufacturing environment in North America

Familiar with industry standards, codes and regulations as applicable to manufacturing environment

Minimum 3 years project experience form completion of graduate program or 5 years’ project experience from graduation of tertiary education.

Monitor project progress for adherence to programme and report to Senior Project Engineer or Project Manager.

Assist Planner, Senior Project Engineer and/or the Project Manager to prepare schedules for the project.

Refer any major problems during a project's duration to the Project Manager or relevant functional manager.

Attend site meetings as required by the Senior Project Engineer or Project Manager

Ensure subcontract works are delivered safely, in accordance with the project schedule and comply to the technical requirements of the project

Minimum of 2 years experience in building science. Experience with residential building systems (townhouse, midrise, highrise, etc.).

Perform or arrange for reviews of existing installation and interprets/manages the impact on the project.

Five or more years of project engineering experience in the field of mechanical building services.

Degree or diploma in construction management or engineering and/or trade qualification or equivalent field experience

Manage and provide scheduling, planning, organizing of labour, subcontractors and materials.

5-10 years’ experience in the construction industry

Duties And Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

Ensure company safety policy is adhered to on all projects.

Experience and knowledge of cost accounting and forecasting as it relates to project management.

Utilize approved Project Management processes for phase-gating, integration, scope, schedule, cost, change control, estimating, communications and reporting, and risk.

Ensure Contract Management through all stages of the contracting process is carried out.

Maintain an awareness of technological advancements in project management, engineering and construction fields.

Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is a desirable asset

Experience within the Nuclear industry is a strong asset

Requires a knowledge of project management principles, specifically the 5 primary project phases (Identification, Initiation, Definition, Execution, Closeout)

Knowledge of cost accounting and forecasting as it relates to project management.

Knowledge of commercial contracting methods, contract management, construction methods, codes and standards, quality assurance and health and safety.

Utilize approved Project Management processes for phase-gating, integration, scope, schedule, cost, change control, estimating, communications and reporting, and risk.

4-year degree in Engineering, Economics, Business or related field, plus post-secondary courses in Project Management and Business Economics

Experience managing conflicting priorities of scope, schedule, cost and quality.

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field is an asset.

· Reviews and approves design deliverables for example drawings, technical reports and material listing sheets

· Reviews lessons learned from past projects and incorporates recommendations into future designs

· Provide technical support to Construction team during construction phases

· Provide technical guidance to junior engineers within the team or others based upon technical expertise

· Support and/or lead department initiatives as required

· Responsible for the successful operations of the assigned area with significant corporate financial impact.

5-years of previous project management experience in industrial Mechanical and Pipeline construction discipline.

HSE management including site tours, inspections monitoring and reporting both internally and on the client level.

Quality management including compiling and monitoring ITP, progressive turnover, re-work tracking and project closeout.

Change management, including identification of change, creation/execution of estimates and change order requests.

Diploma or bachelor’s degree from a recognized engineering/project management program or equivalent.
