Health Information Analyst Jobs

Bachelors degree in health information management or equivalent experience required

CHIMA (Canadian Health Information Management Association) certification – preferred

Minimum of 1 -2 years of supervisory/management experience in a unionized environment preferably in a healthcare setting-preferred

Experience in developing, implementing and monitoring processes, conducting data quality audits and investigating suspect data entry errors or omissions an asset

Good working knowledge of Computer software, i.e. MS Windows, MS Office, Databases and departmental system applications.

Ability to organize and prioritize work and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced and customer service oriented environment.

Knowledge of the legal aspects of record management.

Graduation from an accredited Health Information Technologist/Health Information Management Professional program.

Health information Management Professional with active membership in the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA).

Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Windows and Office suite including Word, Excel and Access programs in advanced applications.

Certificate in Advance Crystal Reports or equivalent experience using report-writing software.

Demonstrated knowledge and direct use of the ICD-10-CA/CCI coding classifications, Manitoba Abstracting Data Elements and Manitoba Health abstracting processes and standards.

Experience with change management and project management methodologies.

Excellent organization, time management, interpersonal skills.

Engage with stakeholders using change management strategies throughout implementation and enhancement processes in both project and operations environments.

Support users through troubleshooting and the management of the HIS Support Group phone and email.

A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Certification in Adult Education and e-learning technologies an asset.

Post-secondary education, ideally in Health Information Management

Recognized Medical Records, Office Administration, or Law Clerk, or relevant work experience;

Manage scanning and printer queue, folding/inserter machine, postage meter, and related processes;

2-3 years of work experience in Health/Medical Records retrieval from healthcare providers

Highly proficient using copiers, scanners, and knowledge of internal office networks

Strong English communication skills (French or Spanish is a bonus)

Other suitable combinations of education and experience may be considered

Grade 12 education or equivalent

Recent experience in a patient reception/care area, specifically in registration of patients within an Admission/Discharge/ Transfer (ADT) system preferred

Recent clerical and customer service experience

Knowledgeable of the Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) and other healthcare related legislation

Accurate keyboarding/typing skills of 40 wpm

Recent related experience required, specifically in a Health Information Services environment, with a working knowledge of current health information systems.

Experience in performing a wide variety of secretarial and clerical duties.

Experience serving the information needs of the public, Government Agencies and other care providers and clients.

Successful completion of secondary school education according to provincial standards or equivalency.

Demonstrates knowledge and support of:

Knowledge of the operation of personal computers and associated software; as well as a multi-function fax/copier machine.

Demonstrated knowledge of health records management and best practices.

Five to seven years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) plus three (3) to four (4) years of directly related experience, ideally in health care;

Developing a sound knowledge base of international research relevant to cancer risk, prevention, early diagnosis and screening

Excellent understanding of cancer prevention and early detection and experience of delivering targeted evidence-based information

Ability to manage specific projects, including matrix managing others in the team and completing within allocated timescales and budget.
