They must also be knowledgeable in the applicable local and state codes and regulations. To become a Gas Fitter, one must complete a formal training program and obtain a license or certification. Gas Fitter skills required for a successful career include knowledge of gas-powered systems, safety protocols, and applicable codes and regulations; the ability to read and interpret blueprints; and the ability to use tools and equipment safely and effectively.
