Academic Advising Job Duties And Responsibilities

Post-secondary education, a minimum of a Certificate or Diploma equivalence

Minimum of 3 years work experience working in a similar role

Perform other duties related to the qualifications and requirements of the position

3 years experience or involvement in the student conduct process in post-secondary educational environments

Experience in adjudicating, investigating misconduct, student conduct cases, and knowledge and practice of student development theory

Proactively respond to student requests, provide recommendations and identify opportunities to enhance student resiliency and problem-solving skills

Provide outreach to the campus community regarding student rights and responsibilities

Create and conduct student workshop sessions regarding the Student Rights & Responsibilities and topics related to non-academic student conduct

Energy Management, Environmental Technician, and Machine Learrning Analyst (STEM Student Advisor)

5+ years of related advising and student support experience in a post-secondary environment.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Proficient knowledge of computer systems, including PeopleSoft and Microsoft Office.

Compensation for this role is set at an hourly rate ranging between $17.44 for 0 years of experience and $21.80.

Education: High School Diploma, Some college

Intimate knowledge of their campus community

Ability to connect with parents and families around issues of education for their children

Knowledge of IDEA Public Schools

Have experience with data management and manipulation, including but not limited to data entry, reporting and importing

Project management skills (ideation to implementation)

Project management of recruitment and enrollment summer projects and events

Manage and maintain the recruitment and enrollment data systems (School Mint, etc.)

Manage and maintain the data tracking systems (Google Studio, Google Sheets, etc.)

Bachelor’s Degree or experience equivalent

A minimum of three years’ experience assessing and advising clients in an educational or social and community services environment is required;

Three-year diploma or degree in a field related to social and community services, or Education.

Further education (diploma, degree, graduate certificate) in academic advising or career coaching would be considered an asset

Exceptional interpersonal, organizational and communication skills;

Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel;

The ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision;

Strong knowledge of post-secondary education programming, environment, policies and procedures

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered

Minimum of two years relevant experience in academic advising, planning or counselling

Previous insurance experience &/or post secondary education or equivalent

Determine whether insurance applications meet contractual provisions and the employee’s eligibility for various benefits according to the class & division structure.

Calculate benefit amounts based on the employee’s profile for accurate billing

Ability to organize and manage changing workloads independently

Excellent written and oral communication skills
