Draftsperson – Bridge Construction Jobs

Minimum three (3) years of bridge work experience

Minimum two (2) years of road maintenance and/or construction experience

Minimum two (2) years of experience in a supervisory role

Valid Certificate of Qualification in the trade of Piledriver and Bridgeman issued by the Province of BC Ministry of Labour

Minimum one year of experience with design for residential construction

Experience with multifamily wood frame construction preferred

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Experience in bridge building is a must

1-3 years mechanical design experience (Experience in design of agricultural/conveyance equipment preferred)

Out of the box thinking skills

Able to organize and manage multiple priorities and projects at once.

Strong written and oral communication skills

Experience with Solidworks (Understanding of sheet-metal module preferred)

- Assist CAD manager with development of standards, templates, and procedures

- Assist Project Manager with day to day tasks as required.

- Education (Red River Civil Engineering Technician Program; or equivalent)

- Must possess knowledge of residential/commercial construction techniques with ability to read and interpret construction plans.

- Review National building Code and local jurisdiction by-laws and apply to specific projects

- Must have a valid driver's license

Minimum skill and knowledge requirements:

Experience with local townhouse, apartment, commercial and mixed-use projects.

Experience with wood-frame and concrete construction systems.

Knowledge of the BC Building Code and Vancouver Building Bylaw.

Knowledge of building envelope concepts.

Good knowledge of bridge construction, components and standard practices

2+ years or more of related experience in a drafting position

Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D

Knowledge of construction practices and techniques

Attention to detail, organizational skills, drive, and the ability to prioritize tasks

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preparation of land development drawings in AutoCAD Civil 3D

Thorough knowledge of AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor as acquired through a college program in Engineering Drafting.

A minimum of 3 years’ experience with proficiency in mechanical drafting in CAD.

Knowledge of machine shop practice and machining processes.

Basic knowledge of engineering materials such as iron and steels, carbides, brass and bronze.

Knowledge of tolerances and the ability to correctly use measuring instruments such as a caliper, micrometer, and protractor.

Knowledge of both imperial and metric measurement systems.

Close cooperation with various internal departments such as project management, production as well as suppliers and customers

Technical education, seniordraftsperson and woodworker, cabinet making experience and/or master craftman´s examination for carpenters

Knowledge of Autocad blocks will be an asset

Creation of designs and technical constructions for residential interior projects

Preperation of 3D models and 2D drawings with Autocad

Create optimized cutting and BOM list for production

Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking and time management techniques

Maintain current knowledge of National and Provincial building codes

Diploma in Architectural Technology, Interior Design, or an equivalent post-secondary education

Minimum of 2 years of Drafting experience preferably in the retail design sector

Ability to manage multiple projects and achieve deadlines
