To represent the Quadrant Crisis Response Network at Simcoe Resource Management Committee, Mobile Resource Team, and Regional Crisis Committees.

To record and report client information as necessary for effective service delivery and case management and prepare progress notes.

Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, demonstrated ability to self-manage time and multiple tasks

To collect and report service delivery data as required. Computer/keyboarding skills are required.

Excellent communication and negotiating skills

To provide timely and appropriate crisis response to individuals and their families and/or caregivers who are requiring crisis support.

Provide crisis response, supportive counselling, behavioural management to assist with the development of physical, social, emotional and life skills.

Knowledge of ongoing impacts of historical, direct, and intergenerational trauma experienced by Indigenous Peoples.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in trauma and violence-informed practice.

Knowledge of the Mental Health Act as it applies to the rights and obligations of clients and staff.

Knowledge of psychiatric medications and their side effects.

Demonstrate clinical competence congruent with crisis intervention and drug use/withdrawal management;

Sound judgment, good observation and client assessment skills, tact and empathy

Apply nursing process as required and described in BC College of Nurses and Midwives Standards of Nursing Practice.

Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

Work independently in a variety of traditional and non-traditional settings, demonstrating initiative, with limited supervision

Demonstrated knowledge and experience maintaining medical records and filing systems, as well as processing personal health information.

A minimum of two years related experience.

Preferred experience in working with individuals experiencing a psychosocial crisis.

Successful completion of a Unit Clerk Course and/or a Medical Office Assistant Course required.

Working knowledge of computer software required.

Keyboarding skills (30-50 wpm) required

Experience developing and delivering education and training sessions.

Minimum of four years related clinical experience in mental health, with experience in the provision of crisis response services required.

Experience in acute care mental health considered an asset.

3 years’ experience in supervisory and managing in a unionized and interdisciplinary team environment.

Program Development and Practice Standards

BSW, BScPN, BN, OT, RPN, RN, or related health/human service degree required.

Familiarity with Crisis Intervention Theory and risk management responsibilities.

Crisis Intervention and Time Management skills.

Knowledge and experience in working with people with substance related concerns.

An equivalent combination of education and experience as recognized by Crisis Response Services may be considered.

Minimum of two years mental health experience at the para-professional level, providing support services to adults with mental illness required.

Basic knowledge Mental Health Programs and Services.

4 Year College Degree (B.S. or B.A) and/or 2-5 years of equivalent professional work experience in insurance, reinsurance or risk management

Perform other related work as assigned by the Program Manager and/or designate

Registered Social Worker (Degree) or post-secondary education (Diploma) in a related field is an asset

Strong written and verbal communication skills, and computer skills

Standard First Aid/CPR, ASIST Certification, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training is considered an asset

Provide access to and support with transition out for clients to the emergency shelter; ensuring all documents/forms are accurately completed

Experience in individual, couple and family counselling essential

Previous clinical mental health experience in an acute care hospital setting is required

Sound knowledge of mental health disorders, DSM IVR classifications and pertinent legislation

Sound knowledge of mental status evaluations, psychosocial assessments, suicide and violence risk assessments, psychiatric history taking, and discharge planning

Skilled working with a broad range of client groups and their significant supports

Working knowledge of community resources

Data entry and excel reporting experience

Offer immediate de-escalation and support to those experiencing a mental health crisis

Telephone crisis service delivery, preferably more than 2 years’ experience

Experience providing intensive brief intervention, crisis intervention and system navigation to clients over the phone

Ability to effectively identify problems and offer appropriate resources, referrals, and information to assist the individual in resolving the crisis

Strong knowledge of appropriate mental health, addiction, problem gaming/gambling and other community resources for system navigation and referral
