Manage quality control and risks during geotechnical and design work, including a critical review of results

15+ years of relevant (post-degree) experience working in a consulting engineering or mining industry environment

Strong, client-focused project direction and business development skills

Ability to manage risk and have excellent engineering judgement

Spanish and/or French language skills (verbal and written) would be an asset

Manage all time tracking/timesheets and biweekly payroll requirements for the Operations Team

Manage the unionized operations team in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Manage and review day to day operations of the Operations and Maintenance Department including other projects/contracts assigned by the Manager, Operations

Assist the Property Manager and Manager, Operations in the preparation of the annual operational budget for the property

Service driven, professional and courteous with excellent written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills

Analytical and detail oriented with advanced problem-solving abilities

Engage in training and continuing education to develop the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to work safely.

Provide direction and leadership to department team members, including performance management and annual reviews.

Knowledge and experience working within a union environment preferred.

Complete all other assignments as assigned by the Manager.

Proactively identify, manage, and mitigate hazards to reduce risk to the workplace.

5+ years of related job experience within the field of operations.

Develop and track project schedules, man-hours, deliverables in conjunction with Project Services Group and Project Manager(s).

Experience in the mining or mineral processing sector preferred.

Obtain P. Eng. Certification in other jurisdictions, if required (i.e. Newfoundland and Labrador)

Establish scope of work for projects and proposals and develop engineering cost estimates, deliverable lists, schedules, change order requests.

Carry out detailed design, sizing and calculations.

Oversee and check other electrical engineers and designers’ work including back-office design.

Knowledge with slope management; including dam analysis, tailings characterization and instrumentation technologies.

Periodically review and update as required an Operations, Maintenance and Surveillance (OMS) Manual and performance reports that supports effective risk management.

Support tailings and pond management Operations and maintain dam safety in accordance with specifications, performance indicators, limits, standards and procedures.

Implement and periodically review and update site-wide water management strategy.

Knowledge of MAC, CDA, GISTM, ANCOLD, ICOLD or other guidance documents to manage tailings storage facility governance.

Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Experience in an industrial environment will be considered an asset

Strong verbal, written and analytical communication skills

Make regular site and visual inspections of the Tailings dams

Participate in monitoring and data analysis

Provide project support of design and evaluation of containment dams

Assist with Geotechnical investigations and data collection
