Chemistry Technician Jobs

PhD (with 0-5 years postdoctoral or industrial experience) or MSc (with 5+ years of related experience) in synthetic chemistry is required

Experience with synthetic organic chemistry in a medicinal or process chemistry environment

Industry experience is strongly preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Perform synthetic chemistry (executes, troubleshoots, designs) to provide chemical compounds in support of adMare projects (typically mg to 100 g scale)

Assist in the coordination of the day-to-day operations of the synthetic chemistry lab, including the maintenance and good operation of equipment

You must be able to commute to this location. Relocation packages are not offered.

Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field

Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered

Good knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 science/chemistry curriculum

Some experience teaching/tutoring math and science at a Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) level

Strong English written and oral communication skills

Knowledge and experience of safe operation of testing equipment and operating in an independent / chemistry / consultant laboratory

Ensure work compliance to ISO 17025 requirements

Generating test reports for clients (data entry, quality assurance)

Have a diploma / degree in chemistry with at least 2 years experience in similar role

Good English communication skills: reading, writing, speaking

Analysis of water-physical, chemical and microbiological parameters

Apply expertise to support change and risk management, including application of scientific and technical innovation.

Assess the compliance status of current test methods and equipment and benchmarks against industry practice and ensure compliance with established requirements.

Work in collaboration with direct manager, subordinates, internal customers and other cross functional peers to gain alignment on sound quality decisions.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Thorough knowledge of GMP and WHMIS and biohazard safety awareness

Scientific knowledge of standard practices in area of assignment

Matrixed management of scientists and research associates conducting peptide synthesis, biological assays and preclinical studies

Manage external teams (CROs and academic collaborations) to deliver peptides/peptidomimetics or small molecule-based radiopharmaceuticals (RPs) for biological evaluation

Experience in leading drug discovery projects to reach key discovery milestones

Experience in radiopharmaceutical development preferred, but not required

Attention to detail with excellent organizational skills, verbal communication and writing skills

A team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a strong passion for the discovery of targeted therapies

Excellent observational, organizational, data management, and documentation skills

Maintenance of clear and accurate lab records, adherence to all safety and compliance requirements

PhD in Chemistry or related area with 5+ years of relevant industrial drug discovery experience

Solid understanding and practical experience in peptide drug discovery

Solid experience in modern synthetic and analytical techniques

Conduct synthesis of new compounds based on project requirements and protocols.

Working knowledge of theoretical and practical synthetic organic chemistry.

Experience with analytical techniques such as NMR, LC-MS, HPLC, and spectroscopic methods.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present findings and summarize experimental details.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements

Supervising and coordinating the work of the medical lab technologists in the Chemistry department

Ensuring that all laboratory procedures are performed in accordance with established protocols and quality control measures

Overseeing the maintenance of laboratory equipment and ensuring that it is functioning properly

Experience with multi-step synthetic chemistry over and above the teaching lab is required

Excellent oral and written communication capabilities

Good computer skills particularly with MS Office suite and ChemOffice (ChemDraw)

Reproduces or adapts established synthetic procedures to transform chemical species into target payloads, intermediates, and drug-linkers

Monitors reaction progress using HPLC-MS and TLC

The equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.

Experience in processing, extraction and fractionation of terrestrial, marine and fermentation-based materials

Experience summarizing, evaluating and reporting data

Experience using liquid and gas chromatography (HPLC and GC) applied to natural products.

Experience with mass spectrometry is an asset

Experience with downstream processing is an asset
