Art Gallery Curator Jobs

Reporting to the Director of Creative of Experience, the Curator

•Support the Creative Experience team with grants, proposal development, and funding opportunities.

•Support the Creative Experience team with program ideas relating to the new exhibit.

•Curatorial experience is considered an asset.

• Experience working with local Indigenous communities.

•Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Strong organizational and project management abilities.

Oversee cataloging, documentation, and inventory management of the collection.

Work with the Beaverbrook’s education and public programs department to develop educational programs, workshops, and tours related to Canadian art.

Engage with the public and educational institutions to promote understanding and appreciation of Canadian art.

In-depth knowledge of Canadian art history, artists, and artistic movements.

Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to contribute to scholarship.

A wide range of experience in volunteer management, community building initiatives, and stakeholder engagement?

Recruiting community members to join the platform to host an experience or to participate in an experience

Doing exploratory research to understand motivations & needs within Prince George and adapt offers & materials accordingly

Motivating, coaching & collaborating with community hosts on the platform to create engaging and inclusive experiences

Support the physical management, care and preservation of the museum object collections.

Understanding of museum ethics and standards for collections management

Exceptional communication skills and experience with the general public, donor groups, press, external and internal stakeholders

Work within a cross-functional team to oversee the care, upkeep, and refreshment of core gallery experiences.

Knowledge of United States and Virginia history and material culture

Knowledge of principles and best practices of exhibitions and museum collections

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and time-management skills.

Must have experience working with Pacific collections as well as artists, community members and stakeholders.

Active in professional associations and experience on boards of community organizations and other outreach work.

Knowledge of a Pacific Islands language is preferred.

Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities.

Ph.D. preferred, or M.A. with appropriate experience. Minimum of 6 years of museum-related work experience.

Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion

Consults with Musqueam regarding the development of new projects.

Liaises with artists throughout installation process.

Writes proposals to government agencies, private foundations, and individuals to fund the acquisition purchase and installation of works.

Researches, writes and edits material for publicity, website, publications and reports.

Attends meetings of the University Art Committee and Outdoor Art Subcommittee as a non-voting member

experience in curatorial department, in collections management, as technician in art gallery/museum or equivalent

Collections management and administrative support

●Research, development and management of internal systems for managing a collections database

Knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements for safe building practices and correct lifting techniques

A combination of education and experience will be considered

Working closely with the Executive Director your responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

5+ years of Product Development Manager experience

Utilizes appropriate external and internal resources effectively to the benefit of both the client and organization

Able to make precise judgments about the projects time allocation and requirements

Attends industry functions to increase knowledge
