Accountant – Corporate Reporting Jobs in Alberta

Preparing and analyzing financial statements and management’s discussion and analysis for external and internal reporting

Assist in the preparation of monthly consolidation, financial statements and management reports for consolidated and legal entities

CPA with two to four years of post-qualification experience

Support other initiatives of the finance group including developing new disclosures, processes and enhanced reporting

Knowledge of IFRS and continuous disclosure securities regulations

Knowledge of accounting and information systems

Education or experience in Change Management or Project Management is preferred, but is not required

Remain engaged with, and current on, regulatory requirements that impact ATCO and its partners

A Professional accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA, CA) is required. Applicants will be evaluated based on their level of experience

A minimum of 5 years of accounting, regulatory or auditing experience

Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with individuals in a variety of roles, and from various backgrounds

You have at least 1 year of experience in the public accounting industry, with exposure to a variety of industries

You have a strong desire to further develop your knowledge in accounting across different industries

You display strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills

Prepare year-end engagements and tax returns for clients in a variety of industries with efficiency and accuracy

Conduct Notice to Reader engagements, prepare accounting and tax returns, and produce financial statements per regulatory standards

Establish positive relationships with clients and respond effectively to their requests and feedback

Stay current on approaches to financial management and processes through continued professional development

Act as a key contact with Ministry of Advanced Education for provincial grant funding

Act as a key Finance resource in collaboration with various departments and schools to provide financial guidance to clients

5+ years of experience in a corporate accounting environment

Extensive experience with financial modules in ERP systems

Experience in a post-secondary or public sector accounting environment

Advanced experience and knowledge of SAP and BI is desirable, including SAP Consolidation;

Professional Accounting Designation (CA, CPA, CMA, CGA) (5+ years’ experience is preferred)

Previous experience in the Oil & Gas Industry is preferred;

Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently when necessary, with flexibility to adhere to deadlines;

Strong attention to detail and interpersonal skills;

Experience working with large datasets and Excel Functions (VLOOKUPs, MATCH, SUMIF, etc.)

Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

A minimum of 3 years’ financial reporting and analysis experience.

CPA designation or completion of all requirements other than time.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
