Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Youth & Young Adult Job Developer, with experience working in job coaching, marketing and development with client’s with disabilities, to join the Gastown Vocational Services team in Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!

As a Youth & Young Adult Job Developer you will


  • Interview clients to identify interests, skills, work values, job readiness and suitability for employment opportunities.
  • Establish rapport with clients and their family; encourage and support the exploration and attainment of educational and employment goals and provide information on volunteer and/ or employment opportunities and/or job training/retraining initiatives and programs.
  • Facilitate resume and/or interview preparation workshops.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vocational resource organizations, provincial and federal vocational training programs, wage subsidy programs, etc. to foster employment opportunities for client group.
  • Collaborate with the Occupational Therapist in order to provide supported employment services for youth and young adult clients with mental health disabilities.
  • Provide assistance with resume writing, job search and retention skills.
  • Identify prospective employers within the community appropriate to client’s work profiles.


Education & Experience


  • Community Social Service Diploma or completion of a recognized program in psychosocial rehabilitation or equivalent.
  • Valid B.C. driver's license.
  • Two years' recent related experience with job coaching, marketing and development with client’s with disabilities, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.


Knowledge & Abilities


  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients.
  • Knowledge of community, social, mental health and health resources.
  • Ability to establish/maintain working relationships with external agencies.
  • Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of issues affecting youth and young adults.
  • Proven computer skills and ability to utilize contemporary software applications including MSWord, Excel, Outlook and the Internet.
  • Knowledge of employment marketing and coaching, with individuals with disabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, to work independently with minimal direction, problem solve, take initiative, anticipate potential problems/conflicts and take appropriate actions.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Knowledge of the principles of recovery in mental illness.
  • Ability to demonstrate and assist client with development of employment and training skills.
  • Ability to work within a team environment and to operate standard office equipment.


The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.


As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
