Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager, IT; the Web Developer is a key member of the IT team at Canlan Sports partnering closely with the Marketing team. Committed to creating sports communities that change lives for the better, this role will demonstrate our purpose through our digital experiences and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to improve and optimize Canlan Sports’ WordPress development, design, and performance, ensuring the delivery of the best possible experience for our sport communities. Existing websites include canlansports.com, ashl.ca, ccthockey.com, and canlanyhl.com. This role will also have System Administrator responsibilities that ensures continuous, optimal performance of IT services, systems, Infrastructure and support tools.
Accountabilities
This Role Is Accountable For

• Collaborate well with Internal team members.
• Update and/or create new features on existing websites.
• Providing report/analytic publishing and distribution
• Website Accessibility Compliancy
• Maintain documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (XD and Photoshop) for converting delivered designs into WordPress templates.
• Maintain network, server, and cloud Infrastructure systems In Azure.
• Assist Helpdesk with root cause Identification and technical support when needed.
• WordPress and PHP (Front/Back End)
• Code custom WordPress themes, templates, and plugins, following best practices across various environments.
• Provide status updates to Project Manager
• Perform system administration tasks. SSO Integrations, System Support, and maintenance.
• Troubleshooting common Website\WordPress issues
• Responsible for Microsoft 365 Infrastructure and software deployment.
• Front-End Theme Development using HTML5, SCSS, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery.
• Ensure website health relating to speed, technical SEO, usability, security, browser/device compatibility.
• Modify and develop websites based on design mock-ups.

• Best web design practices with knowledge of SEO.
• Ability to manage source control to ensure organized repositories.
• Highly organized and capable of using a Kanban-style workflow to manage projects.
• Work with key internal stakeholders to troubleshoot, solve challenges and apply debugging skills.
• Focus on user experience, and the continual pursuit of delivering the best possible experience for our new and returning users.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Subject matter expert who provides leadership, and recommendations based on results and trends.
• Ability to identify potential gaps and threats to Canlan’s digital presence.
• Assess current practices and introduce process efficiencies/automation, launching updates, and website scaling.
• Work closely with the Marketing Team to understand business challenges and objectives to provide solutions through digital experiences that drive performance.

Abilities, Attributes and Experience

• Assist Digital Marketing Specialist with research and development to constantly increase conversion rates and usability resulting in direct revenue growth via Canlan’s websites.
• Work with the Digital Marketing Specialist and assist with marketing trends/methods and make recommendations for new/revised online marketing campaigns.
• Support in the development of online experiences to support marketing initiatives.
• Training users on new or modified content management systems
• Priority contact for all National web-support and development
• Understand Search Engine Optimization initiatives to support marketing initiatives.

Qualifications and Education

• Possesses 2-5 years of WordPress and PHP experience.
• Possesses 2-5 years of web development experience.
• Sports industry experience is an asset.
• College or University Degree in Computer Sciences
• Possesses 2-5 years of System Administrator experience.
