Job Description
Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, the Waste Management Coordinator has corporate accountability for all aspects of the Hamilton Health Sciences Waste Management Program. This position is responsible for review and monitoring of regulatory compliance, waste management policy development and implementation, contract management as well as management of budgets and capital equipment . This role also manages Internal and external stakeholder relationships as well as employee communication and education as they relate to waste management issues.


Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health and Safety , Environmental Management or other related field;


  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of environmental legislation and laws and the principles and practices of environmental safety
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as an interdisciplinary team member
  • Recent experience (2-5 years) in the development and /or implementation of waste management programs
  • High level of initiative with demonstrated excellence in communication, team building, organization and the ability to initiate and model positive change.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of staff, administration and government officials
  • Evidence of commitment to continuous education through pursuit of undergraduate studies or comparable educational endeavours;

Unit Summary


Customer Support Services provides a variety of diverse services to clients in both the clinical and non-clinical areas of Hamilton Health Sciences as well as to external clients. Services provided include Portering, Linen, Clinical and Core Housekeeping, Room Booking, Service Response Centre, Waste, and Nutrition Services.
