Senior Solid Waste Management Engineer Jobs

Strong technical knowledge and demonstrated experience in solid waste management.

8 years of experience, with a combination of technical, supervisory, project management and business management experience.

Experience with all types of waste management facilities, including landfill, waste transfer, composting and material and energy recovery.

Working with the Quality Management team to uphold quality standards and procedures.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively lead and motivate employees and help manage project teams.

Experience and knowledge of relevant environmental legislation, regulations, codes, standards and best practices.

Recent experience (2-5 years) in the development and /or implementation of waste management programs

Comprehensive knowledge of environmental legislation and laws and the principles and practices of environmental safety

Demonstrated leadership skills and ability;

Evidence of commitment to continuous education through pursuit of undergraduate studies or comparable educational endeavours;

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of staff, administration and government officials

High level of initiative with demonstrated excellence in communication, team building, organization and the ability to initiate and model positive change.

Experience or interest in mine water management, contaminant fate and transport, environmental risk assessment, land reclamation, and/or land use planning

Demonstrated project management and business development success

Authored and presented technical work on contaminated site remediation, mine waste management, or mine closure & reclamation.

10 or more years of relevant work experience

Excellent communication and technical report writing skills

Experience or interest in physical and chemical stabilization of mine rock stockpiles, tailings, and other mine land disturbances

Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent with six (6) months job related experience.

Excellent time management, organization, and problem-solving skills

Assist or lead waste management projects requiring permitting, operations support, design, monitoring, and closure.

Effectively work with multi discipline project team members including engineers, scientists, technicians, and project managers.

Assist Project Managers with scheduling, budgeting, invoicing, and proposals

Ability to perform field tasks, including working in inclement weather conditions in remote areas

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Knowledge of Waste Management and Waste Diversion methodologies considered an asset

Have good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

Excellent computer skills – Internet and Microsoft Office; particularly Outlook, Word and Excel

Responsible for the maintenance of all data collected related to the Leaf and Yard Waste Compost Program and weekly tonnage reports
