Job Description
Position Description


This position will be based in Brantford, Canada. Above all, the Warehouse Operator is to work safely by observing all safety rules, including proper utilization of lock out tag out. The Forklift Operator will operate power industrial equipment to transport materials throughout the factory. This position will be responsible for accurate inventory counts and transactions as well as following safe forklift operating procedures. The employee will be trained on operating specific machinery and doing all transaction in SAP for inbounds and outbounds including inventory management.


Core Responsibilities


Operational Activities


  • Review the production schedule. Contact the shipping office if packaging is needed by a certain time. If the information is not satisfactory, Contact production supervisor if there is not enough packaging to complete scheduled run. This will eliminate over batching and enable schedule changes to be made in a timely manner.
  • Make sure supplies are stored for all lines in a timely manner to avoid any downtime.
  • Complete necessary steps for securely shutting down warehouse and trailers.
  • The work area must be always kept clean.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Coordinates a continuous supply of appropriate material from storage areas to demarcated usage areas as per defined 5S standards.
  • Re-palletize packaging and raw material where required before staging or supplying to the lines.
  • Conducts effective hand-over activities and records accurately events that have occurred during shift and review schedule with previous shift. Discuss any changes made to the schedule and review any packaging issues.
  • Carries out forklift checks to ensure that it is clean and in a safe condition per the established procedure.
  • Check production lines for any upcoming line changes.
  • Count all available packaging required for two shifts – current and following. Will do a complete count of all materials towards the end of A shift.
  • Place materials in racks in safe manner and supply to staging area from racks when required. Will do entries in SAP whenever moving materials from one location to another.
  • Damaged packaging or ingredients must be reported on the “Report of Loss or Damage Form” This form must be filled out completely and given to the Warehouse Lead or Production Supervisor.
  • Shut down the forklift and other equipment per the established procedure and water the batteries once a week.
  • All packaging being pulled for production must be staged in the packaging staging area on the production floor. After changeovers all materials will be returned to warehouse after doing proper count and entering in SAP and with proper labels.
  • Hang materials on tote stations where required.
  • Completes all required paperwork as the relevant work is performed.
  • After reviewing packaging requirements with previous shift, should check in with the Lead-person to check how many packaging unloads they will have for the day. Responsible for checking in after each load and unload for the next assignment.
  • Responsible for accurate and efficient receipt of all packaging and raw materials deliveries, place them in staging area, entering in SAP and label all inbound materials.
  • All defective packaging must have a Vendor Complaint Form filled in. A copy of this form will be attached to the pallets in question and given to the Production Supervisor. The pallets on hold will be put in the hold racks or in designated area with proper entry in SAP.
  • Inform the Supervisor of any packaging issues immediately.


Safety


  • Ensure that procedures and practice adhere to safety policy and legislation.
  • Industrial vehicles must be operated in a manner so as not to endanger any person or property. All training guidelines must be followed.
  • Wear the required PPE while performing all job duties.
  • Report all safety related issues and near misses to supervisor. If required will do the safety inspections in the operator’s area.
  • Required to complete and contribute to all relevant training and EWO and associated paperwork.
  • Knowledge and understanding of company safety policy, systems, and good practice relevant to Sourcing Unit and the responsibility placed upon individuals.
  • Safe, licensed operation of powered industrial vehicles


Workplace Hazards


  • Utilize appropriate safety and environmental procedures for people, processes, materials, products, and equipment relevant to the tasks in your area.
  • Work areas include conveyors and power industrial vehicles.
  • Work areas may include cold work environments (PPE is provided).
  • Full knowledge of the workplace and hazards within it.
  • Work areas include machines that start and stop automatically.


Quality


  • Understands and adheres to color code.
  • Identifies material defects at the point of receipt and notifies appropriate personnel, may include leads, supervisors, and quality.
  • Knowledge of product quality and food safety procedures for the warehouse.
  • Monitors product and packaging to ensure they meet or exceed all quality standards and corrective actions are taken promptly upon discovery of an issue.
  • Initiate and complete SNCRs as vendor sourced issues are identified.
  • Must actively contribute to all the quality related training and complete assessments.
  • Prioritizes Consumer Safety by adhering to the strict Food Safety and GMP requirements set by the company and may halt activities when there is potential risk for noncompliance.

  • Follows proper containment and reporting procedures and escalates any environmental release as soon as they are known, this includes releases to internal drains.
  • Reduce costs due to waste and minimize impact to health, safety, and the environment through working to eliminate waste and through the correct management of waste and hazardous materials.
  • Must actively contribute to an eco-efficient environment including, but not limited to disposing of materials in the appropriate waste streams.

  • An awareness of how to identify, prioritize and address problems using appropriate tools and techniques that eliminate recurrence.

World Class Manufacturing (WCM)


  • May be required to complete or contribute to EWO and associated paperwork.
  • Completes F-Tags accurately and completely, follows proper procedures for F-Tag submission.
  • An awareness of how to use performance measures to identify and prioritize losses in production area; provides description of problems and can provide monitoring of process or line issues.


Tools and Equipment


  • Licensed operation of required powered industrial vehicles including forklift.
  • Cleaning supplies include but are not limited to: chemical cleaning agents, towels, squeegee, brushes, dust pans, brooms, mops, etc.
  • RF scanner gun
  • Basic computer skills to work with SAP.
  • Calculator


About you!


Minimum Requirements


  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs. maximum.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in manufacturing environment required; food production environment preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
  • Prior SAP experience an asset.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well within a team environment.
