The Marketing & Communications team is responsible for supporting and enhancing the global and national reputation of SFU Beedie as the business school of choice for societal impact. We are a small but high-performing collaborative team of creative professionals with a passion for championing the SFU Beedie brand through compelling stories, profiles, and campaigns.


About The Role


In consultation with the Senior Video Producer, the Videographer participates in the planning and production of marketing video content based on client and department requirements; functions as the lead videographer for the SFU Beedie School of Business; meets with clients to discuss videography requirements; writes scripts and creates storyboards; operates video production equipment, interviews and provides guidance to subjects during video recording sessions; leads editing process of video projects, shaping raw footage, developing clear and compelling storylines/themes; performs all video mastering functions, including colour correction/grading, audio mixing/mastering/exporting for distribution; creating motion graphics elements and/or creating original animated videos; operates and maintains camera, audio, lighting, and other video production equipment, and troubleshoots equipment-related problems; organizes and maintains digital libraries of all project materials and video assets; contributes ideas, feedback, and support within collaborative marketing team; and maintains online video channels.


A creative, experienced, and well-rounded videographer who is strong in all aspects of video production and storytelling, from concept development and pre-production, to on-set creative & technical production, to the editing and integration of narrative and visual story elements in post-production.


Must be comfortable in a wide range of film/video styles and techniques, capable of producing high-impact video deliverables under limited time/budget constraints and experienced in finding innovative creative solutions while always maintaining alignment with core brand attributes.


Must be an enthusiastic collaborator within a small creative team and committed to maintaining a professional and cordial demeanor at all times in a higher-education institutional environment.


Qualifications


High school graduation and completion of diploma program in video/audio production. 3 years of experience. An equivalent combination of formal education, certificate/program of study and experience is acceptable.


  • Ability to produce high quality work under tight deadlines and pressure.
  • Excellent knowledge of, and experience with, professional video post-production software and techniques (Davinci Resolve, Apple Final Cut Pro/Motion/Compressor, Adobe Premiere/After Effects/Photoshop/Illustrator/Media Encoder etc).
  • Excellent knowledge of, and experience with, professional video production equipment and techniques (broadcast/cinema cameras and lenses, audio recorders and microphones, production lighting, monitors, switchers, mixers etc).
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to plan and execute all aspects of a video project, from pre-production to final edit and delivery, and solve problems as necessary on location or in studio.
