: VB.NET Web Programmer with Data Skills (Contract, Remote, 6 Months with possibility for extension)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled VB.NET Web Programmer with strong data skills and expertise in MS SQL Server. As a VB.NET Web Programmer, you will be responsible for performing discovery, fixing existing issues, and then migrating existing web applications to a new data center.
These applications use Visual Basic (VB.NET specifically) and are highly integrated with a back-end MS SQL Server database. There are a total of 3 Web Portals (1 for internal staff only and 2 for staff/customers). The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working with Identity and Access Management (IAM) concepts.
This role will also involve working closely with nation-wide cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless functioning and migration of applications, data management, and security.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain existing web applications using Visual Basic (VB.NET) programming language.
• Plan and execute complex web applications to a new data center, with new MS SQL Server and IIS Web Server.
• Ensure the web applications efficiently communicate with the MS SQL Server database.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and create test plans for the data center migration.
• Analyze and maintain Identity and Access Management (IAM) concepts to ensure proper authentication, authorization, and data protection.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to web application functionality, performance, and security.
• Recommend database optimization, indexing, and performance tuning to ensure optimal data retrieval and storage.
• Conduct thorough testing and debugging of web applications to identify and fix any issues or defects.
• Collaborate with other technical team members and stakeholders to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
• Stay updated with the latest technologies and industry trends related to web development, data management, and security.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Proven experience working as a Web Programmer, developing, and maintaining web applications.
• Strong proficiency in Visual Basic (VB.NET)
• Solid understanding of relational databases, specifically MS SQL Server, including data modeling, query optimization, and stored procedures.
• Proven development with Identity and Access Management (IAM) concepts and their implementation in web applications.
• Experience with web development technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ASP.NET.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, with a strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with other programming languages, such as C# or Java.
• Familiarity with Microsoft’s Power BI, Power Apps and Power Automate.
• Understanding of cloud platforms, such as Azure or AWS
• Certification or training in Identity and Access Management (IAM) concepts
