What You Will Do
Reporting to the Manager, Claims the Unit Manager, Claims Auto PD will oversee a team of adjusters on both personal and commercial policies.
- Lead, manage and develop claim associates to maximize full performance potential
- Assist in building the Atlantic team and best practices
- Creates and delivers performance reviews along with action plans to manage performance
- Encourages continuous learning within the team
- Delivers exceptional customer service, internally and externally
- Provide coaching on claims technical skills and strategic direction on claims handling
- Ensure equitable distribution of claims within the team
- Conducts regular feedback discussions with associates regarding training needs, development plans, execution of plans, and performance results
- Ensure adherence to corporate reserving practices
Who You Are
- Familiarity with established and recent case law
- Post-secondary education, or equivalent industry experience
- Working knowledge of legislation governing property and casualty insurance claims
- Working towards or completion of provincial licensing preferred
- Knowledge of principles and practices of claims settlement, policy wording, fraud investigations and coverage issues
- Relevant and progressive claims experience, inclusive of technical and coverage issues, management / resolution.
- A minimum of 1 year of leadership experience
- A minimum of 3-5 years of claims handling experience; handling complex files
- Progressive experience in training / mentoring / coaching using a variety of approaches
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook)
