We are looking for a hands on Team Leader, Billings. As a key member of the Billings team, you will be reporting to the Senior Manager, Billings, Receivables and Reporting. In this role, you will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Billings team of four, be responsible for driving the revenue cycle, and building relationships with lawyers, clients and firm members to ensure timely and accurate billing of our WIP.

Scope of Responsibilities:

• Complete special projects as required, and other duties as assigned
• Manage the E-Billing process by ensuring invoices are uploaded and issues are resolved in a timely manner
• Build relationships with lawyers and develop insights and knowledge of lawyers’ and clients’ practices and billing cycles
• Prepare or review financial analysis for clients, lawyers, and management
• Evaluate and implement process improvements
• Provide leadership, coaching and guidance to the Billings team, including performance management
• Act as a backup for other roles within the finance team as needed
• Respond to billing inquiries and provide back up and support to the team when needed
• Review client billing guidelines and ensure compliance, including special rates and billing requirements
• Understand rate setups and special rates for billing and E-Billing purposes

Requirements:

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to be effective and prioritize and meet deadlines
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a billings role, preferably in a professional services environment
• Experience in a high volume, fast-paced billing environment
• Well-versed in industry standard billing policies, systems and controls
• Excellent client service skills required to build and maintain client relationships
• Knowledge of and experience with invoicing software, including E-Billing systems preferred
• Minimum 2 years of demonstrated team leadership, including performance management
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills
• Proficient knowledge of MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Confident and effective results driven individual with strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Post secondary education in accounting related field
• Demonstrates excellent client service and ability to anticipate client needs
