A Day in the Life…

Reporting to the Manager, Talent Acquisition, the Talent Acquisition Consultant is responsible for providing strategic advice and support on end-to-end talent acquisition services for hiring managers and committees.


As the Talent Acquisition Consultant, you will:

  • Ensure legislative, collective agreement, policy, and best practice compliance within the talent acquisition portfolio;
  • Conduct in-depth intake meetings with hiring managers to understand role requirements, discuss sourcing strategies, and confirm screening and assessment criteria;
  • Develop job postings, screen applications, and make recommendations to hiring committees; conduct interviews; complete reference and background checks; debrief hiring managers and candidates; extend job offers; and ensure new employees are effectively onboarded;
  • Build constructive working relationships and provide trusted guidance to hiring managers.
  • Liaise with the Total Rewards team to determine the appropriate compensation for offers;
  • Contribute to the employer brand and represent Brock University as a preferred place to work through recruitment and social media activities;
  • Facilitate the delivery of training programs for hiring managers (e.g., interviewing processes and techniques, Workday recruitment module);
  • Create a seamless and positive candidate experience with timely and effective communication throughout each phase;


What you need to Succeed…

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as careful document control and record keeping.
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage high workload and changing priorities;
  • Strong client / customer service orientation;
  • Ability to re-evaluate current processes and utilize metrics to suggest future improvements;
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and delivering in an end-to-end talent acquisition process;
  • Excellent interpersonal, consultative, influencing, and negotiating skills;
  • Comprehensive behavioural-based interviewing and candidate assessment skills.
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness and initiative.
  • Ability to exercise tact and sound professional judgment.
  • A university degree in a related field (e.g. business administration, psychology, communications, social sciences), preferably with a concentration in human resources management.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion principles;
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and make recommendations in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures, best practices, and collective agreements;
  • Ability to assess and support candidate accommodation requests during the recruitment process;


Preferred or Asset Skills:

  • Experience in a highly unionized work environment with multiple collective agreements;
  • Experience with Workday;
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation;


Salary and Benefit Information

  • This position includes full comprehensive benefits, including tuition waiver.
  • Job Grade K, Salary Scale ($54,348 - $73,731)*;

* The salary range indicated is representative of all positions evaluated at this level. Actual salary is determined by assessing related skills, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness, subject to available budget.
