SMS Equipment is seeking a Service Supervisor who will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and economical operation of the branch shop facilities and related activities. The successful candidate will oversee a shop that maintains and repairs all Komatsu and other OEM equipment. This position will assign work and allocate tradespeople’s time to best utilize available manpower. The Service Supervisor will guide, supervise, and provide tradespeople with ongoing support in repair procedures and techniques.
The shift rotation for this position is 5x2.
Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited Too
  • Ensures all trades people are exercising safe procedures and that trade practices and regulations are followed and that they are trained in their assigned tasks.
  • Ensure correct and sufficient inventory is ordered to match large work orders.
  • Oversee shop facilities and service operations.
  • Assist customers by providing service information and by resolving service problems.
  • Assure a quality product by conducting in-process inspections and evaluating the finished product.
  • Assists with preparing and reviewing Incident/Accident reports.
  • Ensure that operational requirements are met by supervising, coordinating and scheduling the activities of trades people who repair and maintain Komatsu and other OEM equipment.
  • Perform the administration of all Work Orders.
  • Prepare and review SMS and Komatsu technical reports.
  • Coordinate work through other trades such as welders and subcontractors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a journeyperson certification in a relevant trade as well as a thorough knowledge of maintenance and repair of construction and mining equipment. Other requirements include:
  • Supervisory experience in an industrial environment is a requirement.
  • Several years experience as a qualified tradesman in a relevant trade.
  • Strong communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of OH&S acts and regulations and equipment inspection requirements.
  • Ability to organise and prioritize tasks and ensure work is completed to a high standard in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to oversee and coordinate a large shop operation.
