ACC's Learning Commons is hiring. We are looking for a highly motivated and student-centered individuals to join our teams as Student Success Advisor. As a Student Success Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in guiding and supporting our students as they navigate their educational and career journeys. Be Passionate and Taking Initiative with these Responsibilities:

  • Effectively identifies, adopts, implements, and monitors best practice academic advising and coaching.
  • Provide resources and information on health and wellness topics to students.
  • Facilitate connections between students and existing on-campus and off-campus support services.
  • Support students to identify their most effective and efficient route to academic success.
  • Implement appropriate crisis intervention strategies and follow-up support.
  • Identify and refer students to appropriate resources and services based on their individual needs.
  • Make necessary referrals to link students with on and off-campus services:
  • Help students identify and understand their own aspirations and aptitudes.
  • Develop and implement initiatives that foster a culture of well-being and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Support students to define and refine their academic and career goals.
  • Assist students to take maximum advantage of their prior learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with ACC services for integrated support.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates proactive advising strategies.
  • Coach students to define and refine strategies for academic success.
  • Maintains ongoing, direct contact with students as part of a comprehensive proactive advising plan.

  • Offer immediate assistance and support to students experiencing crisis situations.
  • This includes assessing the needs of students, referring them to appropriate resources, providing academic coaching, assisting in the development of student action plans for success, and offering intervention and support during crisis situations.
  • Assist students in developing personalized action plans to achieve their academic and wellness goals.
  • Engage in health promotion and event planning to support student wellness:
  • Coordinate with relevant campus departments and professionals to address students' immediate needs.
  • Encourage student persistence and success through the development of a proactive plan for effective transition to, and success within, the college learning environment.


Being able to deliver results by having:

  • Knowledge and awareness of current college support services. Front line experience working with diverse populations is a definite asset.
  • Relevant education (Bachelor’s degree) in an area relevant to the Dept. and/or in human services.
  • 2+ years of directly related college level experience working with students and the educational process in service-related roles.
  • 2+ years of advising/student service experience in a post-secondary setting.
