Job Description

Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

Our Business Performance Office in the Operations (Rapid Transit) division is seeking a Reporting Specialist (BI Performance Analyst) to provide advice and analytical insight to the development of performance reports and processes that address partner reporting requirements. The Reporting Specialist will report to the Manager, Business Performance and Reporting.
What will I be doing?
  • Track and analyze data to monitor performance trends
  • Engage with partners and represent the department by participating in reporting meetings
  • Remain current and informed of operational issues and participate in the review and evaluation of policies, procedures and methodologies for the collection, analysis, and quality assurance of project- and program-based reports
  • Identify requirements to develop high-value, actionable reporting
  • Identify opportunities to develop new data collection and reporting processes
  • Maintain performance metrics to be used across Operations (Rapid Transit) to track performance
  • Develop processes to access relevant data essential for the development and deployment of analytical reports
  • Build relationships with stakeholders to maintain knowledge of issues affecting projects and to facilitate cooperation in the provision of data for report preparation
  • Work with departments and other business units to identify opportunities for improvement in reporting, tools, or data collection techniques
  • Conduct preliminary analysis and quality assurance of all data, assess the validity of the data and evaluate the need for changes/modifications to existing program management systems
  • Develop reporting dashboards and KPIs in Power BI from concept to completion and use insight to identify the best format and data interpretation to communicate with all partners
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
  • Data collection/management techniques (ETL) and the development/interpretation of data to determine requirements, retrieve, analyze and deliver insights and recommendations
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ related experience
  • Data quality assurance processes, methodology and tools, quality assurance testing and implementation methods and practices to ensure the integrity of data
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to draft reports, analyze information and present information to various audiences
  • Experience with reporting visualization tools Power BI (preferred), Tableau, Qlik Sense, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate data and present data that drive improvements
  • Creativity to determine format of dashboards and to translate a range of diverse data/information into actionable results that support internal and external requirements
  • Experience communicating analytic methodology to non-technical audience
  • Completion of a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent
