SPECIALIST, MARKETING

FULLTIME PERMANENT

Tourism Prince George Society operates as the destination marketing organization within the city of Prince George and is located on the unceded, traditional territory of the Lheidli T’enneh. Reporting to the Director, Marketing & Visitor Experience, this position will strategically create and maintain marketing content, ensure Tourism Prince George is digital forward and assist with other duties in alignment with Tourism Prince George’s corporate strategies.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Content

·Build and execute social media strategy through competitive research, benchmarking, messaging, and visitor location origin identification to build destination awareness.

·Create compelling marketing copy, campaigns and assets that align with TPG’s brand.

·Lead the collection and organization of digital assets including photo, video, and other digital assets, and the contracts, credits, rights and requests to use material. Familiarity with the platform Crowdriff is an asset.

·Liaise with copywriters, photographers and videographers as required. This may include assisting with hosting travel media on activities, dinner, etc.

·Moderate, collect and utilize User Generated Content to supplement TPG content.

·Work with Director, Marketing and Visitor Experience to oversee and provide direction to any marketing contractors.

·Work with Director, Marketing and Visitor Experience to enforce brand policies.

Digital

·Develop, schedule and manage the annual content calendar.

·Implement and enhance digital marketing strategies; working directly in various digital channels (Email, social media, SEO, SEM, display ads, video, website) and adjusting content to improve organic impact and account growth

·Lead with a data-first approach, adjusting marketing activities to optimize results and stay informed on trends, tools and research

·Purchase social media buys, paid search and banner advertising spaces

·Manage paid social media campaigns (ad management, A/B testing, bid management, audience research) to ensure they are reaching targets.

·Continually monitor, analyze and report SEO/SEM/paid marketing efforts and performance metrics. Provide insight into what's working, opportunities, and next steps

·Strengthen the destination’s overall marketing presence by encouraging and collaborating with local stakeholders to optimize their social media and online presence

·Manage social media engagement and build relationships with our guests, social media ambassadors and influencers in our online community (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, blog, newsletter, etc.). Monitor and respond to comments, messages, shares and tags in a timely manner.

·Manage and promote TPG programs and initiatives including but not limited to Bites, Flights, and Sights and Hit the Trails.

·Be up-to-date with the latest social media best practices and technologies.

Website

·Continuously monitor, update, and improve ‘tourismpg.com’ website for PC and mobile applications.

·Day to day management of the ‘tourismpg.com’ website, complete ongoing site performance review, and content audits, compile and review website results and reports.

Experiences

·Represent Tourism Prince George at industry events as required.

·Assist in the coordination of familiarization and media tours.

Preferred Qualifications:

·A university degree or relevant experience in Marketing, Business Administration or a related field.

·Minimum 2 years’ experience in a marketing/communications/social media management role.

·An understanding of the tourism industry, specifically relating to marketing is considered an asset.

·Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with various audiences (including writing, verbal, presentation and listening skills).

·Excellent relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of partners and stakeholders.

·Exceptional organizational and time management capabilities with a strong attention to detail.

·Strategic and analytical thinker and ability to improvise and problem solve.

·Proficient use in Microsoft Office applications; experience in other programs related to marketing or digital document development considered an asset.

·Experience working with CRM software is considered an asset.

·Experience working in a DMO is considered an asset.

·Valid Class 5 license.

Employment Details

  • Integrated team environment, with close collaboration between departments.
  • Full-time, Monday to Friday role, with some requirements for evenings or weekend work due to event schedules.
  • Some travel required for conferences, tradeshows, functions and events.
  • Additional benefits include flexible and remote work arrangements, cell phone coverage, extended health and dental, and RRSP matching.
  • Salary range $50,000.00 to $60,000.00.
