The Role: Software Developer
The Location: Toronto, Canada
Grade: 9 (for internal use only)
The Team
The Reference Data team is responsible for the development and maintenance of our growing product within the Data Valuations & Analytics (DVA) group. Our team services internal clients as well as external clients and is focused on developing a competitive suite of offerings for the broader marketplace.
The Impact
As part of our team, you may be responsible for the design, architecture, and/or development of our data loading, data storage, validation, and publishing applications using a variety of tools and technologies which continue to evolve as we explore new innovations. The work you do will contribute to an essential part of what an S&P Global analyst will use as they provide equity analysis, research, opinion, and performance data to help clients/investors make informed decisions.

Responsibilities
  • Develop tools, applications, and business solutions with clean, high quality and efficient code
  • Identify, prioritize, and execute tasks in an Agile software development environment
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical partners
  • Champion best practices and serve as a subject matter expert where applicable
  • Collaborate remotely with our global team in order to remove blockers and expedite individual tasks
Basic Qualifications
What We’re Looking For:
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience setting up and running QA and/or Production workloads and environments, AWS experience preferred
  • Experience with scripting languages such as bash or Python
  • Bachelor's/Master’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent
  • Command of essential DevOps tools for source control, continuous integration/deployment, and issue tracking such as: Git, GitLab CI/CD Pipelines, JIRA, and Azure DevOps
  • Ability to create and maintain frameworks, systems, and procedures to understand, control, manipulate, and scale all aspects of a software environment's infrastructure
  • Hands-on experience managing and working in a Unix/Linux/Ubuntu environment both physical (on-prem) and virtual (on cloud)
  • Experience building and leveraging application monitoring using tools such as Grafana
Preferred Qualifications
  • Open-minded, flexible, and willing to adapt to changing situations.
  • Proactive and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working collaboratively with geographically distributed teams to achieve project plan deliverables and exceed client expectations.
