BCIT’sSchool of Businessis seeking aregular, full-time (1.0FTE) Social Media Specialist. This position develops, designs and maintains all social media platforms, using specialized knowledge, equipment, software and applications to create engaging social content, and using social media as a recruitment tool and school events promotion for theBCITSchool of Business + Media. Communicates with students and different stakeholders from other departments and schools to develop social media strategies including email marketing campaigns, based on continuous analysis and monitoring of industry trends, internal experience and best practices.

Responsibilities
Research & Analysis:
- Monitors digital and industry trends and experiments with new digital and social media tools.
- Creates and maintains distribution lists of internal and external contacts.
- Collaborates with internal departments and schools to develop social strategies to promote events, programs, and courses.
- Prepares reports and makes recommendations for changes or improvements.
- Analyzes data and outcomes from campaigns to determine future best practices.
- Develops an annual social media plan and monthly content calendar.
Social Media Marketing:
- Identifies opportunities to collaborate with individuals, brands, and organizations.
- Uses video hardware and software to livestream events and activities.
- Creates, implements, and manages email marketing campaigns.
- Uses professional cameras and camera equipment to shoot photos and videos.
- Identifies and interviews students, faculty, graduates, and industry for social content.
- Edits photos, images, and videos for social channels using Adobe software.
- Designs, writes, and maintains content on a variety of social media platforms.
Marketing Support:
- Updates content on the School of Business + Media website and program pages.
- Assists with planning, implementing, and promoting school events and information sessions.
- Provides input on improving marketing materials, advertisements, and the school website.
Other:
- Participates in Records Custodian training and remains current with record keeping practices, policies and procedures (bothBCITandFOIPOP).
- Undertakes related duties as assigned, consistent with the job grade for this position.
Qualifications

Education:
- Completion of Grade 12 plus a two-year Diploma specializing in marketing and/or communications plus current specialized training and courses in social media and digital marketing.
Experience:
- Two years of general experience plus four years of current, practical experience in a position of similar responsibility in a marketing and/or communications environment.
- Experience creating content for social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and TikTok.
Software/Computer Application(s) and Expertise:
- General social media and computer skills are essential.
- Experience with photo / video editing software like Adobe Photoshop / Premiere is preferred.
- Experience withCMSsoftware such as WordPress, email marketing platforms, and Adobe Acrobat.
Communication/Interpersonal Skills:
- Must be able to work effectively with all levels of stakeholders in developing and implementing projects, and facilitating collaborative activities.
- Proven ability to work within a team environment and adhere to strict deadlines while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
- Must be a team player who is self-directed, responsible, and dependable.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Administrative Skills (e.g. prioritizing, minute taking, wp speed, etc.):
- Must be detail-oriented.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate schedules, meetings, and photo/video shoots.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
Other Skills/Abilities:
- Strong, demonstrable writing skills.
