We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated, Shredder Cleaner to join our team for the afternoon shift, starting at 3:00pm-11:00pm. As a Shredder Cleaner, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and efficiency of our shredding equipment. Your role will involve removing debris, monitoring the shredder's operation, and ensuring optimal performance. This position requires a keen eye for safety, the ability to work in a physically demanding environment, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workplace.


Responsibilities:


  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the shredder area, ensuring the removal of debris, proper waste disposal, and general housekeeping tasks
  • Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities, inspections, and any maintenance or repairs performed on the shredding equipment
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, operators, and other team members to coordinate cleaning schedules, report issues, and ensure smooth operations
  • Adhere to lockout/tagout procedures and other safety practices
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to maintain a safe work environment
  • Remove unwanted materials, such as non-metallic objects, dirt, and other contaminants, from the shredder and its surrounding areas to prevent damage and maintain efficiency
  • Equipment Cleaning: Clean and maintain shredding equipment, including conveyor systems, screens, magnets, and other components, to ensure optimal performance and prevent contamination


Qualifications


  • Previous experience in an industrial cleaning or maintenance role is preferred
  • Familiarity with metal recycling processes and materials is an asset
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and the ability to follow safety guidelines and protocols
  • Basic understanding of machinery and equipment operation is an asset
  • Attention to detail and the ability to spot and remove contaminants from the shredder equipment effectively
  • Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks that involve standing, bending, lifting, and manual dexterity
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize cleaning tasks and meet deadlines
  • Good communication skills to interact with supervisors, operators, and other team members
