Job Description

Position Summary

Reporting to the Service Lead, this position is responsible for the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of actuators and process valves. Main responsibilities will be providing technical support for valves and valve automation, valve and actuator service, and troubleshooting to solve customer’s service needs.

Detailed Responsibilities

·Competent in-house and onsite troubleshooting and repair of valves and automation, specializing in electric operators

·Valve service, including disassembly, cleaning, inspection, measuring, reassembly, and testing of valves, operators, and control packages

·Timely completion of technical service reports, including photos, work conducted, evaluation of observed issues, and repair recommendations

·Timely and accurate reporting for field work, hours worked, mileage, and expenses for final billing to client

·Automation of valves including assembly, testing, inspecting, and troubleshooting valves/actuators of varying sizes and models

·Setup and commission valve assemblies, electric actuators, and control packages in shop environment or client locations

·Work with Design & Drafting to ensure accurate as-built drawings are completed as required

·Accurate reporting of hours and inventory (including consumables)

·Independent tracking and maintenance of HSE certifications for site access, adhering to job site requirements

·Complete JSAs and FLHAs for work as needed

·Forecast on-site service work for outage or turnaround season, managing time and capacity

Qualities & Qualifications

  • Sound understanding of electrical, mechanical, and electronic servicing and assembly
  • Instrument Technology Journeyman or equivalent, and at least five (5) years relevant industry experience
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor and maintain quality control and assurance measures
  • Hands-on experience installing and troubleshooting electric actuators and gears
  • Knowledge of industry codes, specs, and regulations
  • Demonstrated understanding of efficient workflow processes and shop ergonomics
  • Ability to interpret/evaluate work orders, schematics and CAD drawings, system schematics, P&ID (piping and instrumentation diagrams) and 3D piping schematics.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic applications, equipment, and assemblies
  • Hands-on experience disassembling, troubleshooting, and rebuilding various industrial valve types and actuators, of all sizes and pressure class ranges

·Knowledge of SCADA, DCS, and HMI systems across various plant sites a benefit

  • Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs.
  • Above average computer skills
  • Natural curiosity and thirst for knowledge and continual learning
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with both internal and external customers
  • Problem solving and critical thinking allowing the individual to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, develop alternate solutions

·Ability to travel regularly, primarily in Western Canada, with potential for international travel
