As an Service Support Aide in Perinatal Services at Vancouver Coastal Health you will

• Assisting clients/patients with meals and maintaining supplies for various carts, rooms and storage areas
• Cleaning, maintaining and ensuring equipment is in working order
• Providing client/patient care within scope of practice
• Transporting clients/patients to and from required areas using stretchers and wheelchairs
• Assist in the delivery of client care. You will do this while working under the functional direction of a Registered Nurse or other designate and in cooperation with interdisciplinary team members.
• Cleaning equipment and designated areas as required to maintain a clean and safe environment for clients/patients and staff
• Providing support to clients/patients with bathroom care needs
• Perform duties such as
• Assisting nursing and technical staff with the lifting and transferring of clients/patients
• Moving a variety of equipment within the unit

Education & Experience

• Graduation from a recognized Resident Care Attendant program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Grade 10.

Knowledge & Abilities

• Ability to operate related equipment.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to deal with others effectively.
• Ability to organize work.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
