Alforno Bakery and Cafe is looking for servers to join the team. We have varied shifts with full and part-time hours. The Server will be responsible for providing high-levels of customer service to all restaurant patrons by providing prompt service, taking accurate orders, and maintaining a strong working knowledge of all menu items and daily specials. The server will perform customer service duties in a friendly and professional manner at all times, and ensure that the customers have an enjoyable dining experience.

What you will do as a Server

• Engage and interact with customers to create a positive experience
• Maintain a high level of customer service
• Perform both opening and closing duties
• Generate sales
• Participate in merchandising and promotional activities
• Operate computerized inventory record keeping and re-ordering systems
• Work in partnership with Managers and other employees to maximize store sales and in-store presence
• Understand and follow all pertinent Food Safety guidelines, procedures, and requirements
• Maintain a professional appearance, demeanor, and attitude at all times
• Maintain a high level of product and service knowledge
• Greet customers and discuss the type, quality, and quantity of merchandise or services required
• Take orders from clients and prepare merchandise for purchase
• Replace used stock, rotate current stock and ensure satisfactory inventory levels
• Ensure accuracy in all transactions, inventory, and procedures
• Prepare sales and accept cash, cheque, credit card, or automatic debit payment
• Maintain sales records for inventory control
• Maintain cleanliness of the cafe throughout shift

What we are looking for

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to perform basic calculations and mathematical figures
• Self-motivated with high energy and an engaging level of enthusiasm
• A minimum of two years serving experience is required
• High level of integrity and work ethic
• High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent preferred
• Ability to make excellent sales to achieve performance in alignment with organizational goals and objectives
• Strong knowledge of retail sales principles, methods, practices, and techniques
• Excellent listening skills
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work individually and as a part of a team
• Motivated and creative team player
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with customers
