Job Description
Xello is looking for a Senior Product Designer (UX/UI)

__

Who are you?

You are a seasoned product designer (UX/UI) who is eager to design experiences that will help over 5 million K-12 students achieve their potential in school, career, and life. You’re an expert in design flow and narrative, and quick to understand why your solutions are or are not working. You are a stickler for detail, but won’t let that get in the way of shipping products or trying new approaches. You likely have a multidisciplinary background and a passion for pioneering new ways to inspire wonder and connect audiences to stories, ideas, and information. Above all, you identify with our mission of helping students plan their successful futures.

As a member of Xello’s UX community, you’ll work in an agile environment with a network of external clients, internal stakeholders, and students. You will collaborate with other designers, content creators, researchers, and developers to create some of the most engaging and innovative products in the education market. Your skill at incorporating feedback from multiple rounds of revisions and testing will deliver an intuitive, high-quality user experience.

What you’ll do…

  • Apply flexible and inventive approaches to solve human problems and bring clarity to complex design challenges
  • Execute designs through your command of typography, colour, motion, graphic and interaction design
  • Articulate and defend design solutions to stakeholders
  • Develop design specs and related artifacts, to an appropriate level of fidelity, for production teams
  • Self-manage and organize assigned work within given timelines and budgets
  • Identify potential obstacles, scope changes, or other negative impacts on deliverables and proactively communicate those impediments, with potential solutions, to team leads/project directors
  • Distill complex data, content, and other requirements to their essential, relevant components
  • Provide ongoing design input and review to various team members throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Brainstorm creative concepts, sketch original design concepts, explore user flows, and iterate based on a variety of internal/external feedback
  • Apply knowledge of design, patterns, layout and execution for mobile and desktop platforms and related technologies

What we’re looking for…
  • 5+ years of experience designing interactive experiences
  • Proficiency using various industry-standard tools (Sketch, Photoshop, inVision, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A meticulous attention to detail
  • Skilled at designing new solutions and accepting constructive feedback for iterative improvement
  • A portfolio that clearly narrates your design thinking, choices, process, and execution style
