We are seeking a Senior Product Designer with an interest in helping us envision new ways to connect businesses with customers as they interact with the Edge browser, Microsoft Start, Microsoft Bing and other surfaces. You have strong visual and interaction design skills, are comfortable with ambiguity, and find joy inventing and building net-new experiences. You ideate expansively and rapidly prototype these ideas so that you may get direct customer feedback. You will work within a team of designers as you work together to create experiences that are engaging, relevant, harmonious, and brand-worthy.

As a Product Designer on this team, you will:

  • Identify new opportunities to delight our customers.
  • Find areas where we can improve our processes, products, or culture, and lead or influence the changes necessary to do that.
  • Propose creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Utilize your strong interaction and visual design skills to create amazing products and elevate design.
  • Plan and implement strategies that ensure our design work drives customer value and helps us meet our business goals.
  • Document final designs in a point-of-reference/specification, adjust design systems and work directly with engineers for implementation.
  • Conduct or participate in customer research to uncover the behaviors, motivations, and needs of our customers.
  • Conduct product design work across multiple teams and stakeholders, including: researchers, program managers, product planners, and developers.

Requirements:

  • Design and implement prototypes, mock ups/wireframes, conduct task analysis, create user flows, create or refine style guides, and design/document navigational structures (sitemaps).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to challenge assumptions and utilize customer research to help guide product team towards quality user experience design.
  • Analyze user research to understand customer needs/motivations, behavioral observations, etc. and integrate these learnings into product design.
  • Fluency with basic animation (within Figma) required; skills or experience with more advanced animation (e.g. After Effects) is preferred.
  • Generate design ideas through rapid ideation/sketching.
  • Conduct user interviews and usability testing (including establishing research goals and building related designs needed for this research).
  • Strong knowledge of web technologies (i.e. HTML and CSS).
  • Ability to read and synthesize product specifications and generate related design specifications/design briefs. When product specifications are not present or incomplete, have the ability to help derive and document these missing specifications.
  • Fluency with standard design software tools (ex. Figma, Adobe CS) required.
  • Must be available 5 days a week during regular Pacific Time working hours (8am-5pm), with flexibility to extend to early evening meetings 1-2 days a week (5-7 pm PT).
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Presents and sell designs to product groups/stakeholders (formally and informally).
  • Direct experience designing user interfaces for web, software, and/or hardware products is required.
