About this opportunity:

We are seeking two (2) Senior Process Engineers who will provide specialist interpretation, analysis, and guidance in process safety and technical safety engineering. The positions will build capacity in operations and leverage strengths in the team to deliver exceptional work. This role requires knowledge in various process safety engineering aspects which are required for the implementation of Cenovus’ Operations Integrity Management Systems (COIMS). The ideal candidate will thrive in creating methods and solutions to improve Process Safety performance and is integral to the network of professionals working at corporate offices or deployed at our facilities.

These are office positions based at our office in downtown Calgary, Alberta.

Responsibilities:

Applying core strength in one of:

• Consulting with stakeholders and integrating perspectives to optimize hazard identification and risk control solutions.
• Enhancing process safety awareness through sharing simple, actionable practices.
• Participating or leading investigations involving significant process safety events, providing recommendations, and communicating insights.
• Provide guidance on industry codes and standards related to process safety and fire protection.
• Guiding and managing change efforts required to fully implement COIMS process safety related standards and processes.
• Providing process safety and technical expertise in the application of barrier management to prevent unplanned and uncontrolled releases.
• HAZOP & LOPA Facilitation.
• Including COIMS element requirements, regulatory requirements, and external providers.
• Consequence Modelling and Quantitative Risk Assessment.
• Produce technical reports and presentation related to work scope.
• Fire Protection.
• Understanding the importance of process safety and providing guidance for preventing loss of containment during all phases of operation.
• Leveraging Operations knowledge to identify “weak signals” by interpreting data from management of change processes, control of work procedures, process upsets, incidents etc.

Qualifications:

• Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered for practice in Alberta, at minimum is required.
• Must be willing to work in the office in downtown Calgary.
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
• Minimum of 8+ years of operational experience with demonstrated process safety, hazard identification and risk assessment skills.
