The Position
Sproule is seeking an energetic, self-motivated Senior Petroleum Engineer to join our global Reservoir Services team based in our Calgary, Alberta office. The position provides the opportunity to build upon your engineering and reservoir experience with exposure to a broad range of clients including exploration and production companies, financial institutions and governments throughout the world. Responsibilities
The Senior Petroleum Engineer’s responsibilities will include:
- Acting as project leader and overseeing project scope, timelines and budget.
- Focus on evaluation of thermal EOR assets
- Coaching and mentoring more junior team members.
- Working with Canadian and international clients.
- Representing Sproule in business development visits and meetings.
- Presenting Sproule’s technical opinions to clients.
- Presenting at conferences and webinars on behalf of Sproule.
- Working both independently on projects as well as within a multi-disciplinary geographically dispersed team on client project work.
- Working in teams with other engineers and geoscientists (with various levels of experience) to complete reserve and resource evaluations, integrated reservoir studies, strategic advisory projects, data-room and due diligence interventions.
Required Technical Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience including responsibilities related to: client management, project scope, budget, timelines and resources and product or service delivery.
- Engineering degree with preference towards petroleum and/or reservoir engineering post-secondary.
- APEGA professional designation.
- Experience with related industry software including: ValNav, Mosaic, MBAL, Harmony, Kappa suite.
- Comprehensive experience within thermal enhanced oil recovery plays required.
- 10+ years of oil and gas reservoir engineering experience, with a significant portion of that time being spent doing reserves and resources evaluations.
- Strong computer and program literacy in performance prediction and reservoir engineering software
Additional Preferred Experience
- Experience data analytics.
- Prior experience in a consulting environment is.
- Experience with tight and unconventional reservoir experience.

- Experience providing mentoring, coaching and day to day support to other colleagues in a supervisory or team lead capacity.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
