We are seeking a Senior Fundraising Officer to manage and run the fundraising program at Project Ploughshares.
Position Type:Full-time permanent
Location:Waterloo, Ontario (on-site or hybrid [on-site/online])
Preferred Start Date:July or August 2023
Salary Range:$71,069 - $87,406 per year
Starting Salary:Based on experience

Position Summary:
The Senior Fundraising Officer is responsible for leading the implementation of Project Ploughshares’ fundraising program. The Senior Fundraising Officer will oversee day-to-day fundraising functions, including running the organization’s major donor, direct mailing, and planned giving programs, as well as building and maintaining a support base to advance the mission of the organization. The Senior Fundraising Officer reports to the Director of Operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to identify, engage, and acquire new donors.
- Establish, manage, and run the annual giving program.
- Cultivate major donors and secure planned gifts.
- Expand and grow the direct mail, monthly, and online giving program.
- Contribute to developing a fundraising strategy.
- Oversee the management of the donor database.
- Create new fundraising opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to form positive, collaborative working relationships with staff and supporting constituencies.
- Results-oriented and a creative thinker.
- Comfortable working with ecumenical networks and faith communities.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, planning, and analytical skills.
- Significant fundraising experience with five years or more of progressively responsible experience, preferably in the charitable sector.
- Experience in major gift fundraising.
- Experience with event organization.
- Ability to consistently demonstrate high personal ethical standards, sound judgement, confidentiality, and discretion.
- Interest in peace and security issues.
- Understanding of Imagine Canada’s Ethical Fundraising and Financial Accountability Code, CRA guidelines, and Charitable Tax Law.
- Ability to think strategically and deliver results.
- Post-secondary degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and expertise. CFRE designation a definite asset.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Fundraising experience, knowledge, and connections in the Waterloo Region a definite asset.
- Good computer skills in the Windows environment and experience with fundraising systems and software (Raiser’s Edge).
