CPC Pumps is looking for a talented professional to join our team to fill the role of Senior Engineering Designer.
Purpose
The Senior Engineering Designer is responsible for the following tasks:
• Design and develop centrifugal pumps
• Identify causes of problems from CFD & test results, and provide plans for improvement
• Perform FEA analysis for pump components as needed
Duties and Responsibilities
• Work on centrifugal pump design to meet specified hydraulic performance as per job specifications and relevant industrial standards/codes
• Prepare pump design layout and detailed drawings/models
• Participate in hydraulic component modifications for performance improvement
• Identify and implement new/improved design standard and procedural documents
• Assist sales group for pump selections, prepare proposal curves and GA drawings
• Perform FEA analysis of centrifugal pump components, such as casings and impellers
• Perform Rotor dynamic analysis (lateral, torsional, and structural analysis) as required
• Work with aftermarket personnel to investigate product design and quality problems
• Prepare engineering documents including design calculation and job relevant reports
• Work with other Engineers to direct the investigation and resolution of problems relating to design or quality issues, record and report findings, make corrections, and develop and implement permanent, cost-effective solutions
Qualification Requirements
• 8 or more years of experience with mechanical design, preferably with centrifugal pump design and pressure vessels
• Solid knowledge in hydraulics and mechanical engineering
• Knowledge of API, HI, ASME and ASTM standards
• Proficiency in engineering and design software (such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Microsoft office)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to work well with others
• Knowledge of ANSYS Fluent is an asset
• Experience in programming with Visual Basics or C++ is an asset
Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
Physical Demands
• Office environment involves sedentary work with repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where problems occur and volumes are heavy
