Role
Providing distribution electrical utility engineering services, the Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for completing overhead and underground electrical utility design on some of our most important projects to our clients. You will be responsible for communication with the EMB team, our clients, sub-consultants, and external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of our projects. These responsibilities will include:
·Provide engineering services for various aspects of design, including creation of engineering drawings, sizing of electrical equipment, voltage drop calculations, and scope writing for additional engineering services
·Work with the Project Team and external stakeholders to provide engineered scopes, estimates and construction packages
·Participate in engineering investigations to troubleshoot, evaluate, and provide recommendations on operational issues
·Maintain current detailed knowledge of design criteria, material and processes through suppliers, literature, and industry organizations and conferences
·Provide input to project controls including budgeting, scheduling, forecasting and risk analysis
·Provide operational support as required
·Authenticate engineering drawings and support the application of non-standard designs
·Review and authenticate the work of others as needed
·Ensure the quality of deliverables meets the expectations of EMB and our clients
·Take professional responsibility for key project deliverables (drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, etc.)
·Connect with existing and new clients to develop relationships through project delivery
·Support the development of proposals and responses to requests from new and existing clients
·Assist in the pursuit of new clients
·Collaborate with the EMB team to grow our team and deliver projects
Qualifications
·Degree in Electrical Engineering
·Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia
·10+ years of electrical utility experience in distribution, transmission, or generation
·Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License
Skills
·Knowledge and understanding of transmission, distribution and station components and their functions within an electrical utility environment
·Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices
·General understanding of multi-disciplinary engineering and construction concepts
·Team leadership skills with an ability to energize, motivate and inspire
·Strong technical background and ability to take professional responsibility for engineering documents
·Demonstrated efficient project management/technical leadership of complex engineering projects
·Understands client expectations, budgeting, proposal writing, and producing high quality deliverables
·Outstanding organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple details, tasks and projects and co-ordinate resources to achieve goals
·A strong communicator with integrity and excellent interpersonal skills
·Demonstrated knowledge with various commonly used software such as AutoCAD, MS Office, MS-Project, and SharePoint.
