Senior Data Analyst Jobs

Calian has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Data Analyst to provide leadership on the design and implementation of information management and technology solutions for an enterprise data platform. The opportunity is a 1-year contract to start and is 100% remote.

Position Overview

Calian’s IT & Cyber Solutions division is looking for a Data Analyst to analyze information requirements, recommend options for business and technology solutions, deliver conceptual, logical and physical blueprints for design, build and integrate phases that are aligned with data governance standards and information strategies. The individual is experienced in information requirements collection and analysis, data quality analysis, data modeling, metadata management, master data management, and data integration.

Responsibilities

• Identify and resolve discrepancies (format, content, values).
• Deliver data analysis reports that clearly articulate the data quality dimensions.
• Creating data flow diagrams and communicating requirements, issues and options to various stakeholders, data architects and data engineers
• Developing a plan/approach for data quality analysis, and on-going data quality monitoring.
• Generate status reports to stakeholders on a weekly basis, and liaison with Business Lead on data analysis results and reporting.
• Designing, creating and optimizing data models (in collaboration with data architects) and deriving conversion and migration methods for existing data.
• Collaborating with Data Architects, Data Engineers and Data Governance Analysts on the analysis and solution
• Collecting, documenting, and analyzing information/data requirements from stakeholders
• Maintaining an enterprise view of data across various systems. Working collaboratively with information governance analysts to ensure that data models and structures are compliant with governance standards.
• Developing Source to Target Mapping (STM)
• Understand systems data elements, and existing data structures.
• Creating reviews and validating conceptual, logical, and physical data models of applications to determine compatibility and fit with architectural principles and optimal solution design.
• Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience in Data Quality Analysis is required.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
• ETL Design
• Validate source files for completeness and quality of format, content location and values.
• Identify qualified/approved records for system upload.

Qualifications

• Experience with reverse engineering the source to target mapping to gain data insights.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Bilingual considered an asset but not required.
• Well-rounded experience in the whole data lifecycle management and hands-on experience in the following data management domains: dimensional and relational data modeling, data quality, SQL programming, ETL design, metadata management and master data management, business intelligence and database administration.
• Experience with Spark SQL preferred.
• Experience with Azure Data platform preferred.
• Experience with PowerBI
• Holds a reliability clearance or eligible to obtain one with the Government of Canada (minimum 5 years within Canada)
• Experience with SQL, R and Python

• The candidate must have their own equipment (laptop/computer) to work remotely from home.
