Job Description

Swiss Chalet is now hiring a Senior Brand Manager to join our Marketing Team, in an exciting role at our Home Office.


Swiss Chalet is part of Recipe Unlimited Corporation. Recipe is Canada’s leading full service restaurant company and is home to such iconic brands as Harvey’s, St.Hubert, The Keg, Montana’s, Kelseys, The Burger’s Priest, Pubs, Bier Markt, East Side Mario’s, Landing Group, New York Fries, The Pickle Barrel & Catering, State and Main, Elephant and Castle and Original Joe’s.


We are a Canadian owned and operated restaurant company, and first opened our doors in 1954. Since then, Canadian families have been coming back generation after generation to enjoy our delicious Rotisserie Chicken, BBQ Ribs, Fresh-Cut Fries, and Signature Chalet Dipping Sauce. We proudly serve fresh, grain-fed chickens raised by Canadian Farmers, and slow-roast them in our famous rotisserie ovens to tender, juicy perfection every time.


Reporting directly to the Sr. Director of Marketing, the Senior Brand Manager (SBM) leads Swiss Chalet’s Menu Strategy, Food Innovation, and Dining Room Experience. The SBM has specific ownership and management of menu design and pricing, in-restaurant merchandising, food and beverage innovation and testing pipeline, food and beverage vendor partnerships, speciality programs including kids, lunch, and value programming, and is the key business lead in growing Dining Room Sales, Guest Traffic, and Guest Check metrics.



Role Responsibilities


  • Manage a large portion of the Swiss Chalet marketing budget including photography, food orders, testing budget, menu and POP design, printing and distribution
  • Measure Brand, Financial, and Guest sentiment results for key programs, menu items, and seasonal events - and mine for actionable insights!
  • Lead the in-restaurant merchandising strategy for the brand to drive trial, trade-ups, and add-ons, with specific ownership of menu design, printed and digital takeout boards, in-restaurant handouts, table toppers, window clings, flags, banners, and more
  • Ownership of the Dining Room Guest Journey, including mapping out key Guest segments, need states, and moments of truth, to design meaningful programs and touches that drive exceptional, memorable experiences and keep our Guests coming back
  • Direct, manage, and coach a fantastic Marketing Coordinator (direct report)
  • Stay up to date on restaurant marketing trends, food news, and best-practices, and frameworks used to drive Sales, Guest Traffic, and Franchisee Profitability
  • Lead Swiss Chalet food and beverage product innovation and internal cross-functional project team to ensure menu strategy and testing pipeline is aligned with brand strategy
  • Lead key x-functional Limited Time Offer food and traffic programs and campaigns, including iconic programs like the Festive Special!
  • Key involvement and influence in annual brand planning, 52-week marketing calendar development, quarterly business reviews, Franchisee Board meetings, and conferences
  • Lead all brand pricing and menu changes with support on execution from Marketing Coordinator
  • Key role in the development of the brand strategy, competitive insights and positioning, communication plans, and creative executions working with multiple agencies



Skills & Experience


  • Bonus points for experience in the food, beverage, restaurant, or foodservice industry
  • Enjoys helping teammates work through problems using frameworks, logic, and analytics
  • Strong presenter, confident presenting to Executives, Franchisees, and other key business stakeholders
  • Strong passion for our delicious comfort food and Chalet hospitality!
  • Strong strategic and business planning experience, financial acumen, and analytics skills
  • Strong experience leading and inspiring people, x-functional teams, projects, and stakeholders
  • Minimum 2 years in a role with x-functional project or program management experience
  • University Degree, BBA, BComm preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of Marketing experience
  • Excellent ability to take initiative, seize opportunities, prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for analyzing data for actionable insights, and asking “why” and “so what?”
