About Our Client
The client is a real estate developer and builder

Financial Reporting and Documentation for Construction Projects:

• Maintain realty tax schedules for each project, facilitating payment to municipalities and providing necessary information to lawyers upon closing.
• Prepare interim and year-end financial statements in accordance with ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
• Act as a liaison with municipality tax departments, addressing tax bill issues, supplementary bills, and reassessments.
• Maintain project files for high-rise condo and low-rise new home construction, ensuring accurate and timely completion of interim and year-end reports.

Tax-Related Tasks:

• Prepare necessary documentation for HST number registration, agency agreements, and other documents required by the CRA (Canada Revenue Agency).
• Prepare and review monthly HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) reconciliation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely reporting.

The Successful Applicant

• Familiarity with software such as Sage Timberline, Dynamics, Builder Lynx, or HomeFront Homebuilder Software would be beneficial.
• Minimum of five years of accounting experience, specifically with at least three years of experience in preparing financial statements in either a new home construction or income-producing property (commercial or retail) setting.
• Proficiency in advanced Excel skills is essential.
• Possession of a professional accounting qualification such as CPA or CPA CGA. Enrollment in CPA PREP with three or fewer courses remaining may also be considered.
• Strong communication skills, with prior experience in dealing with auditors and CRAs (Canada Revenue Agency) considered advantageous.
