This Opportunity


We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our growing Accounting team! Reporting to the Finance Director/Controller, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing Certn's North America accounting operations while ensuring financial reporting is accurate and complete on a timely basis.


What you'll do:


  • File GST, PST, and Employer Health Tax remittances.
  • File Workers Compensation reports.
  • Provide ongoing support to the Staff Accountant, Billing Specialist, and Accounts Payable Specialist in their day-to-day activities.
  • Liaise with external accountants on corporate tax returns, SR&ED claims, and the annual audit engagement.
  • Prepare reconciling schedules for intercompany transactions and currency revaluations.
  • Oversee accounts payable and billing functions.
  • Complete the month-end regional checklist and hold the accounting system administrator role.
  • Lead the regional month-end close process by ensuring the timeliness, accuracy and completeness of the financial results including a review of the supporting calculations and documentation and of the financial results.
  • Performance management, career progression planning, and team goal setting.
  • Oversee the regional accounting processes, control environment, and risk management.
  • Preparing financial reports as requested by senior leadership or the board of directors, and other ad hoc duties.


We're hoping you'll bring:


  • CPA designation.
  • Experienced and competent in the use of Accounting software like NetSuite, Sage etc.
  • Highly competent in the use of spreadsheets and word processing tools e.g. Google Suite.
  • 1-2 years leading a team of accounting staff.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of stakeholders across the business
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in IFRS reporting.
  • 4-7 years in an accounting function role.
  • Excellent personal organizational skills and resilience to manage multiple workflows and priorities.


The following will be considered an asset...


  • Experience in accounting function with multiple currencies and consolidation.
  • Experience in system migration and integration.
  • Experience in using Netsuite.
  • Experience managing a team.
