JOB SUMMARY:

In this dynamic, fast paced environment, the Senior Accountant, Budgeting & Forecasting works closely with the Manager of Financial Reporting, to prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly forecasts, and the annual budget. In addition, this role assists with full cycle accounting for all entities in a multi-currency and multi-jurisdictional environment, up to and including the preparation of consolidated financial statements. This position also plays a key role in assisting with various finance projects and mentoring junior team members.



DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage in special projects within the Financial Reporting group as assigned
  • Take a leading role in preparing the financial statements & related schedules for the budget/forecasts for Director of Finance in PowerPoint, who presents this information to the Board of Directors and the Leadership Team
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly financial statements on an entity basis
  • Actively seek out ways to streamline processes, reduce financial and business risk and promote the optimization of accuracy
  • Lead the preparation of consolidation of the FPI group budgeted/forecasted results, including input and communication of results into NIBE’s Frango system, and supporting reconciliation between internal financial statements and the Frango system financial statements
  • Contribute to a positive work environment focusing on Lean and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Other related duties as required
  • Assist with preparation of consolidation of the FPI group actual results, including input and communication of results into NIBE’s Frango system, and supporting reconciliation between internal financial statements and the Frango system financial statements
  • Assist with the review weekly net sales and cash position reporting as needed
  • Provide training and guidance to junior accounting staff
  • Maintain the general ledger account mapping as well as general ledger maintenance including account additions and deletions for budgeting and forecast, and acts as a backup for the actuals reporting
  • Assist with the implementation and monitoring of internal controls over financial reporting, includes conducting monthly sales cut-off testing to ensure sales are recorded in the correct period
  • Take a leading role in the budgeting and forecasting processes by building and maintaining the budget and forecast modelling tools
  • Follow all organizational Health & Safety programs; actively participate in Health & Safety training with the purpose of gaining knowledge and understanding
  • Assist in providing business stakeholders better visibility into variances by comparing financial statements and revenues actuals to budget & forecast, and by comparing the annual budget to prior years’ financial statements and revenues to support decision making and new initiatives
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual internal financial reports to compare actuals to budget, forecast and prior year, and investigate any drivers of significant variances
  • Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and yearly journal entries
  • Maintain professionalism and act in a manner consistent with FPI mission and guiding principles
  • Assist with preparing the financial statements & related schedules for actuals reporting for Director of Finance in PowerPoint, who presents this information to the Board of Directors and the Leadership Team
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing period-end variance analysis to explain fluctuations in accounts
  • Support the full utilization of the company’s ERP software and reporting systems
  • Collaborate with other areas & members of the Finance Department as needed
  • Perform accounting treatment analyses as required under IFRS
  • Perform quarterly and annual inter-company reconciliation within the FPI Group and with other NIBE Companies for quarterly forecasts and annual budgets


QUALIFICATIONS & SPECIFICATIONS:

Abilities/Skills/Knowledge

  • Understanding of IFRS
  • Ability to coach and train junior staff
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical agility
  • Advanced working knowledge of Excel and comfortable with technology/other MS Office apps, including ERP systems (Epicor 9+ an asset), and Business Intelligence (Cubes)
  • Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Reliable, strong work ethic, trustworthy, transparent, keeping sensitive information in confidence, and carries a positive attitude
  • Ability to work with others towards common goals and to reach consensus
  • Excellent communication skills (written/verbal) in English
  • Strong organizational skills; able to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with management and employees

Education/Training

  • University/Bachelor’s degree in Business (Accounting and/or Finance).
  • Professional Accounting designation (CPA/CA/CMA) or equivalent.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role (public accounting firm experience is an asset).
  • Experience working in a multi-national, multi-currency environment, under IFRS reporting requirements is an asset.
