Job Title: Security & Governance Engineer (Office365, SharePoint, Purview)

Intent

We are seeking a Consultant for our client to provide the services of an MS SharePoint & Purview Security Engineer to help them implement an Enterprise Content Management Platform. The consultant will help with securing SharePoint, creating policies and governance but also contribute to effective data cataloging, lineage, and metadata management using Microsoft Purview.

Role

This role involves setting up and implementing a robust security and governance structure for SharePoint and Microsoft Purview, including roles, responsibilities, permissions, and access

controls to ensure proper management, security, and data governance of enterprise content. Working closely with the project team, and other business stakeholders the incumbent will analyze business and IT requirements, and recommend best practices for securing and efficiently governing content and data in SharePoint.

In consultation with technical staff, this role will be pivotal in developing policy, security standards, and governance for MS SharePoint and MS Purview environment. The incumbent will also provide technical support for MS SharePoint and MS Purview

The Consultant’s tasks will include, but are not limited to:

• Develop standardized content metadata models, classification structures, and taxonomy within SharePoint and Microsoft Purview to facilitate efficient content discovery, content search, organization, and lineage capture.
• Understanding requirements for records management, retention, FOI requests and recommend solution(s) for achieving desired outcomes using SharePoint and Purview.
• Drive Office 365 security adoption and lead technical efforts in Office 365 security and strategy discussions.
• In consultation with technical staff helps in installation, configuration, testing and rollout of new functionality and updates to the configuration in Purview & SharePoint
• Keeps abreast of developments in the overall Office365 applications ecosystem and informs IT stakeholders of changing functionality and its impact on services currently in use or planned for the organization.
• Working closely with ECM project resources to create best-of-the-class solutions using Office365, SharePoint and Purview capabilities.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of a data/content governance framework that encompasses both SharePoint and Microsoft Purview, ensuring consistency and alignment between the two platforms.
• Design and implement a robust governance structure for SharePoint, including roles, responsibilities, permissions, and access controls to ensure the proper management and security of enterprise content and data.
• Create policies for Records management, security, access control, and change control for content management.
• Deliver subject matter expertise of Office 365 with emphasis on security, architectural design, management, and support of implementations.
• Develop a standardized document metadata model and taxonomy to facilitate efficient content discovery, classification, and organization.
• Provide overall Office 365 security expertise including strong knowledge of Azure Information Protection, Information Rights Management, and related technologies (encompassing Microsoft Purview + Security)
• Helps in updating policies, procedures and standards as required due to changes in the use of SharePoint and Purview.
• Establishes and maintains liaison with departmental systems administrators. Provides advice and assistance to them regarding SharePoint and Purview best practices related to content/data security and platform governance.

Qualifications And Experience

Required Skills/Experience

• Experience in deployment and management of Microsoft Purview in an enterprise environment.
• Experience in securing data and content on MS SharePoint.
• Experience in design, architecture, and implementation of data loss prevention, classification, and protection policies in Office365 environment.
• Experience in creating security & governance frameworks for Enterprise Content Management platforms on SharePoint.
• Experience in setting up Data lifecycle Management and Records management policies and governance on SharePoint.

Required Technical Skills & Qualifications

• Familiarity with Microsoft Purview or other data cataloging and data governance tools.
• Strong understanding of enterprise content management principles, regulatory requirements, data privacy standards, and data governance best practices.
• Proven experience working with SharePoint and Microsoft Purview as an administrator, analyst, or consultant, specifically in policy, governance, and data management areas.
• In-depth knowledge of SharePoint features, configurations, permissions, security models, data cataloging, and data classification principles.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Interpersonal And Communication Skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Experience in conducting training sessions and workshops to educate users on policies, data management best practices, data cataloging, and data lineage capture.
• Proficiency in data analysis, reporting tools, and data quality management.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities/Deliverables

• Produce weekly status reports, broken down into daily number of hours worked and by tasks, using the ’s time tracking system. The reports must include reporting on work accomplished during the period and work planned for the next period. These will be printed, signed as being correct, and submitted to the organization by the Consultant.
• Provide weekly updates on deliverables and the impact of proposed changes to timelines.
• Provide mentoring and knowledge transfer to organization staff on system setup, configuration and support requirements.
• Communicate assignment status in a timely and clear fashion to the appropriate member of the Senior Management of the IT Department and other organization management, staff and other contractors or consultants involved in related IT assignments, as appropriate to the specific assignment.
• Provide formal documentation, by the organization's PMO methodologies and documentation standards.
