You execute the regulatory affairs strategy across the entire Mondelēz brand portfolio and geographical area and are responsible for the regulatory and policy compliance to deliver Scientific Affairs mandates. You advocate for our regulatory positions and processes to promote the removal of external barriers and to enable our “Snacking Made Right” strategy. You leverage your technical knowledge and regulatory experience to advance our growth strategy, support global initiatives and enable freedom to operate. This position exists to facilitate strong external presence and influence in the trade associations, governmental bodies, and scientific organizations in which Mondelez is involved in North America.


How You Will Contribute


You will support the NA regulatory affairs strategy and compliance agenda and work with cross-functional stakeholders to assess business risks and opportunities. You will leverage your expertise to analyze technical regulatory developments in the external environment and monitor regulatory activity and issues impacting the Mondelēz business strategy and product portfolio. In this role, you will ensure the regulatory intel gathered from your participation in trade associations, scientific organizations and other external forums is captured and organized in manner that facilitates robust impact analysis and timely socialization to stakeholders.


You will lead the identification and integration of new horizon scanning tools within the Scientific Affairs function to enable accelerated issue mapping and predictive forecasting of threats and challenges in the external environment. As a functional expert, you will build strong business relationships with internal stakeholders, local and global colleagues, and external organizations/agencies to make an impact. In addition, you will help bring to life global tools, position papers and provide inputs to broader scientific affairs strategy in matters within your scope.

More About This Role


What you need to know about this position:


Contribute to the development and execution of the Scientific and Regulatory Affairs strategy within the NA BU, including all categories (Biscuit, Chocolate, Gum & Candy).


Develop and maintain an up-to-date understanding of the North American and broader global regulatory landscape applicable to Mondelez product portfolio and strategic plans.


Maintain strong knowledge and awareness of, and provide inputs on scientific affairs topics, supporting impact assessments, horizon scanning of the changing regulatory landscape and guidance development to ensure readiness for the future.


Supports horizon scanning and issue monitoring to inform NA advocacy strategy and support communication of scientific and regulatory positions to ensure freedom to operate for Mondelēz products.


Provides Scientific and Regulatory affairs expertise for technical regulatory developments and supports responses and challenges to crisis management.


Attend key external meetings, conferences and events as assigned; capturing regulatory news, insights and trends; brining the outside in.


Manage the collation and maintenance of regulatory policy and intelligence materials and document repository.


Ensure collaboration, partnership, and execution of key topics across internal and external partners: Business, Corporate Affairs, Government Affairs, Legal, R&D, Trade Associations, Regulatory Agencies.

Education / Certifications:


Bachelor's degree in food science, Food Engineering, Nutrition or similar scientific discipline


Job specific requirements:


  • Expertise in SARA core knowledges topics (flavors, food additives, GMO, organic, dietary requirements)
  • 6-10 years of Regulatory Affairs experience (senior level, strong compliance background)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills utilizing a variety of presentation mediums
  • Language skills for markets of geographic oversight for communication and correct interpretation of laws and regulations
