As a Registered Nurse in Labour & Delivery you will


  • Enhance quality of life from the perspective of the client/family.
  • Demonstrate continuous improvement and best practices approach in nursing practice.
  • Provide advanced perinatal nursing care to expectant clients by conducting a comprehensive nursing assessment of the client and fetus and by providing nursing care to other assigned medical/surgical patients both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Maintain and advance your own clinical competence.
  • Participate on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.
  • Consult, confer, and collaborate with other health care providers.


Staff Housing may be available.

About Sechelt Hospital


Sechelt Hospital is an acute care, 46-bed facility located in Sechelt, British Columbia and serves over 30,000+ residents of the Lower Sunshine Coast. Sechelt Hospital provides a full range of services to the community, including Emergency care, Renal program-community dialysis units, Mental Health and Substance Use Services, surgical services, birthing for low-risk pregnancies and imaging services.


Education & Experience


  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Completion of a recognized advanced nursing specialty program in perinatal nursing or two years’ recent, related experience.


Knowledge & Abilities


  • Demonstrated ability to counsel and teach clients and their families.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including the ability to effectively use a computerized client care information system.
  • Demonstrated ability to model and mentor new staff and students.
  • Demonstrated skill in clinical techniques and the use of applicable equipment and supplies.
  • Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Demonstrated ability in nursing practice related to designated client group.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement care plans.
  • Broad knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client/family centred model of care.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and deal effectively with clients and their families, coworkers, physicians, other health care staff, and staff of external agencies.
  • Demonstrated skill in CPR and NRP techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to unexpected events, problem-solve, set priorities and deal with conflict.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.

We are looking for a positive and collaborative leader to support an excellent plumbing crew in our repair and preventive maintenance work and assist our leadership group and the plumbing crew with providing feedback on on-site plumbing requirements/restrictions for our capital projects. Also, they will be expected to work alongside our other Trades/Maintenance Leaders who work together to achieve departmental goals and promote corporate values. To succeed in this role, we require someone who is customer-centric and has strong leadership skills. It will be an asset if you have a background or training in steam.


As a Supervisor, Facilities Maintenance and Operations with Vancouver Coastal Health you will


  • Be responsible for overseeing the development and supervision of the day to day activities of the assigned service delivery area and coordinates major and minor construction projects through effective project management and maintenance scheduling techniques
  • Ensure the smooth functioning and code compliance of designated facilities, including Hospital equipment and systems, by managing and directly supervising the activities of designated maintenance personnel and external contractors
  • Liaise with colleagues in the industry to share information and establish/review benchmarks to review productivity
  • Provide professional expertise to other health care organizations, and negotiates with contractors, regulatory bodies, manufacturers and/or suppliers.


Education & Experience


  • Trades Qualification as a journeyman in a relevant trade or Power Engineering certificate, plus five (5) to seven (7) years’ recent, related experience including a minimum of two (2) years direct supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.


Knowledge & Abilities


  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, customer relations, communication and facilitation skills to develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage maintenance and construction projects within a large complex health care environment.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to lead and inspire staff, and build a team environment that fosters trust and respect.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of working relationships and trades needs in a maintenance department within a hospital setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate current computer applications such as AutoCAD, word processing, database, spreadsheet, and maintenance management systems.
  • Possesses business acumen and analytical skills to anticipate financial and business requirements and ensure effective use of resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate issues and develop various options for resolutions.
