Job Description
The Registered Nurse in our Palliative Care program is accountable to the Clinical Manager or delegate and will provide nursing care to the patients in St. Peter's Hospital. The RN will also be an active member of the Health Care team and be skilled in caring for patients, maintaining quality of life, comfort and autonomy.


  • Demonstrated exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Graduate of an approved School of Nursing and currently registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Preference given to candidates with BScN
  • Three years of clinical experience in the care of patients with Palliative Care and medically complex needs
  • Demonstrated commitment to life-long learning.
  • Demonstrated leadership and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to adjust quickly to changing conditions - both patient conditions and environmental conditions.
  • Ability to attend work regularly; demonstrated by an acceptable attendance record.
  • Strong assessment skills for patients and families with complex needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to take acceptable risks.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and preceptorship of nursing students.

St. Peter's Palliative Care Program is for patients who are nearing the end of life. Members of the Palliative Care team provide skilled, comprehensive and compassionate care for the dying and their families. Care focuses on maintaining the quality of life, comfort, autonomy and dignity of each patient through the assessment and management of potentially distressing symptoms.
