Recreation Therapy Worker/Clerk

We are presently seeking new team members to join our Recreation Therapy Department at Columbia View Lodge in Trail, BC. A strong candidate will have completed a course or certificate from a recognized recreation therapy program and hold a Class IV BC Driver’s License.
Working within a client centered model, the Recreation Therapy Worker/Clerk works as a member of the interdisciplinary team and is responsible for the implementation and evaluation of an established Recreation Therapy Program. As a Clerk, performs a variety of receptionist duties such as arranging transportation for clients, completing client documentation, data entry, filing, and utilizing a variety of Interior Health (IH) computer programs.
As the Recreation Therapy Worker you will be primarily working with geriatric residents and short stay clients. This position assists in getting residents to/from their programs and carries out established leisure/recreation therapy programs. Staff go on outings with the residents and facilitate groups specific to the needs of the residents (i.e. social, physical, spiritual, etc.) including one-to-one programs. The Recreation Therapy Worker also reports relevant observations of resident progress and behavior to the Supervisor/Recreation Therapist and provides suggestions for changes or modifications to the existing programs.
As within the clerical support this position performs Adult Day Service (ADS) Program duties such as answering telephone, directing calls, receiving and relaying messages, receiving and directing visitors. Responds to general inquiries from staff, public and others, exercising discretion in the release of information. Maintains contact directories. Refers problems to the Manager or designate as required.
Casual employment means work requirements can vary between Zero and 37.5 hours per week. Shifts may be available Days, with shift times of 07:45 to 15:45, 08:30 to 15:30, or 08:45 to 16:45 hours.
