Recovery Equipment Operator


YYC - Calgary International Airport


Full-Time Seasonal Position


The members of the Inland Group of Companies (IDS, Inland Technologies and Quantem Aviation Services) are highly experienced in aircraft de-icing, environmental management, ground handling and pretty much any other aviation support service you can think of. About the Position:


  • To perform daily Vehicle walk-around inspections utilizing appropriate checklists;
  • Assist with Processing Operations and/or facility improvement when required;
  • To be mindful of any fluid segregation requirements as directed by the Airside Supervisor;
  • To perform and record light maintenance tasks on Vehicles and Equipment, and immediately report any repair requirements;
  • Emulsify the de-icing surfaces as directed by the Airside Supervisor;
  • Abide by Inland’s procedural handbooks, operational plans, and directives of management to ensure that all work is done according to specifications and/or regulations;
  • To empty the debris tank into Inland’s storage vessels well before the risk of overfill. The volume, location and concentration must always be recorded for every load. The debris tank must be emptied of solids on a regular basis, and fluids should never be stored in the debris tank overnight;
  • To promptly and accurately complete all associated paperwork as required;
  • Comply with all Government Labour, Health and Safety laws, regulations and policies;
  • Maintain facility cleanliness and appearance including garbage removal, washroom cleaning and restocking and other general cleaning requirements;
  • Escort non security badge holding personnel in accordance with airport written escorting procedures;
  • To be alert and aware of other apron traffic, and to only begin vacuuming when it can be done safely without interfering with aircraft movement. Aircraft always have the right of way;
  • Drive company vehicle off airport property, to pickup spares parts and supplies as directed by management.
  • To professionally operate and maintain the company’s Glycol Recovery Vehicles and other associated equipment within close proximity to aircraft, airfield personnel and equipment;
  • To follow the Equipment Fueling SOP to ensure operational readiness during your shift;
  • To routinely inspect de-icing surfaces while on shift, and promptly collect spent aircraft de-icing fluid (ADF) well before the risk of fluid escape;
  • To work cooperatively with all other staff involved in the completion of assigned duties and to maintain communications between other employees and shifts about current conditions of machines;
  • To work cooperatively with airport authority and outside contractor(s) while representing yourself in the best image for the company;


Please Note: This position requires the ability to obtain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC), and an Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP).


Qualifications:


  • Ability to read, write, speak and communicate effectively;
  • Must have the ability to climb 15-foot heights for work;
  • Basic knowledge of aircraft and how they perform;
  • Ability to safely operate a motorized vehicle in inclement weather;
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus;
  • Ability to work independently showing good judgement;
  • Ability to interpret documents including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals;
  • Valid driver’s license with driving record that meets company insurance standards;
  • Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word and Excel);
  • Class 3 Driver’s License considered an asset.
  • Ability to work independently showing good judgement;
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally and twenty (20) pounds regularly;
  • Work outdoors for long periods when necessary;
  • High School Diploma or GED;
