Compost Lead – $36-$46 per hour – Ryley, Alberta
The Role

Claystone Waste Ltd. is seeking a talented Compost Lead to oversee all aspects of our composting facility. As the Compost Facility Lead, you will play a critical role in maintaining the quality of our compost through analytical testing, compost sampling, and process monitoring.
Reporting directly to the COO, you will follow established policies and procedures of Claystone Waste Ltd., including the organization's Occupational Health, Safety & Environment Services (HSE) program.
Key Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of a Compost Lead include, but are not limited to:
- Complete accurate records for annual reporting requirements.
- Liaise with COO concerning compost quality and equipment concerns.
- Manage daily processes by monitoring and reporting the status of key services, safety and equipment.
- Ensure product quality programs, and quality control are followed, and processing standards are met.
- Ensure thorough blending of both bulking agent and organic material is achieved.
- Oversee all aspects of processing organic materials delivered to compost facility including raw materials, inventory and schedules.
- Oversee operational staff for the compost facility.

The Person
The key skills and qualities of a Compost Lead are:
- Valid class 5 Alberta driver’s license.
- Experience in overall operation of compost/organics processing.
- Knowledge, skill and ability to use computers and software programs to manage employees, paperwork and data.
- Alberta Compost Facility Operator Certificate issued under the Compost Council of Canada.
- Considerable skills in the safe operation and use of heavy construction equipment typically used for compost/landfill and other civil works.
- Radio regulations use and Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada radio compliance (ISED – formerly Industry Canada).
- Experience in co-ordinating and supervising the work of others, specifically compost and equipment operators.
