Quality Assurance Test Automation Lead

Purpose of role

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, PMO, the Quality Assurance Test Automation Lead will be primarily responsible for the planning, monitoring and control of assigned project automation testing activities and tasks as well as the creation of various testing and automation artifacts. The QA Test Automation Lead will work closely with the QA Lead, Project Managers, Business Analysts, Project Architects, Business Stakeholders, and External Vendors to ensure Foresters Financial Quality Assurance and Testing best practices are followed on projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Hands-on development and the creation of Test Scripts, Test Automation frameworks both as part of CI/CD pipelines and for independent execution
• Investigate and assess Test Automation tools and frameworks (Open source, licensed based, etc.)
• Develop and enhance our Test Automation framework
• Using a developer’s mindset, apply proven programming/scripting techniques to create automated test scripts and to implement Test Automation Frameworks

• Work closely with QA Lead/Project Architects/Business Analysts/Business Systems Analysts/Business Subject Matter Experts in identifying test data and batch cycle plans
• Ability to handle multiple projects and meet project deadlines
• Work closely with Project Manager and external vendors to deliver projects to time, scope, budget, and quality requirements
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to integrate well into internal and external teams
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure Test Plan module and MF Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)
• Working knowledge of database management tools, such as MS SQL Server Management Studio
• Experience with automated testing tools (E.g., Eggplant, Selenium, SmartBear, etc.) and establishing an automated testing practice
• Excellent planning, time management and organizational skills
• Knowledge of Programming concepts like file handling, exception handling, database operations and OOP (Object-Oriented Programming) concepts.
• Lead and perform the following tasks on assigned projects:
• Experience with Mainframe, Client –Server, Web and Mobile applications in a complex, integrated environment
• Excellent communication, documentation, and reporting skills
• Experience with SoapUI and ReadyAPI testing
• Ability to be flexible and to adapt to changing circumstances
• Experience working with Onshore and Offshore development and test teams
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
• Manage and coordinate onsite and offshore automation testing efforts for Functional Testing, System Integration (SIT), Regression and UAT phases
• Communicate automation testing progress status/reports to project and management teams
• 3 to 5 years in a QA Lead Test Automation role engaged in project delivery
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills displayed in the development and execution of test plans and the analysis of system problems and appropriate escalation
• Provide guidance to business test teams in identifying/developing test conditions and test cases
• Experience with testing applications that rely on overnight batch processes
• Exposure to business analysis techniques, tools, and processes
• Ensure project deliverables meet business requirements and there are no adverse effects on the existing production business environments.
• Lead and mentor onshore as well as offshore QA team members
• Report testing results and advise of readiness of automated initiatives for production implementation
• Engage with the business stakeholders for the creation of business scenarios and test cases that will be automated
• Must be able to create and execute test cases using Selenium WebDriver and IDE (Integrated Development Environment)
• Act as overall testing automation liaison and point of escalation for the project team
• Flexibility to participate in calls with offshore resources during non-standard office hours
• Act as the primary point of contact for Quality Assurance Test Automation tasks
• Experience with Robotic Process Automation platforms, e.g., UiPath, BluePrism, Automation Anywhere
• Experience with mobile test automation, using tools such as Appium
• Assess automation testing requirements and identify appropriate resources, processes, and tools for the project
• Strong leadership, facilitation, and presentation skills
• Experience in implementing automated testing frameworks (Module Based, Data-Driven, Keyword-Driven, etc)
• Provide accurate QA automation effort estimation to Project Manager
• Maintain and utilize test and defect management tools (MF ALM and Microsoft Azure DevOps) for test management and traceability/auditing purposes
• Life insurance subject matter expertise (Nice to have)
• Ability to meet deadlines, be a self-starter, and be a quick learner
• Develop the project’s automation test strategy/test plan and provide walkthrough to the project team
• Facilitate the review of test scenarios and test cases to ensure full testing coverage
• Provide overall end-to-end test management support to enable successful project delivery
• Standard working hours, with occasional overtime hours
• Conduct ongoing analysis of industry standard testing tools and methodologies and makes recommendations for improvement in overall Foresters testing practices
• Develop test matrices and test cases to requirements traceability matrices
• Experience working on Agile projects
• Mentor junior Test Automation Engineers
• Ensure customer satisfaction through post implementation review and customer feedback
• Represent assigned projects at Test Environment meetings
• Facilitate defect review meetings
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and integrating Test Automation scripts into these pipelines
